except VP's don't become Presidents.

Well, apart from Adams, Jefferson, Van Buren, Tyler, A. Johnson, Fillmore, Arthur, Coolidge, T. Roosevelt, Truman, L. Johnson, Nixon, and GHW Bush, you're dead on. Only about one in three presidents were former VPs.

"As far as I can see...the entire debate was scripted between Hillary and Obama."

As far as I can see, all of American politics (at least that which we are allowed to be part of) .. is scripted.

I tremble at the thought ... (please God, let me be wrong)

An African-American holding a chair for a white woman? Where’s the outrage in the black community? /s

The pair are playing “good cop” “bad cop” and giving Democrats the illusion of choice.

When they run together on the ticket it’ll seem like a “compromise” just like “America needs” to heal the “division”.

Obama will never be criticized as a house... as Colin Powell, Clarence Thomas, and Condi Rice were.

You forgot Ford. He wasn't elected, but he was VP before prez.

If you eliminate those VPs who were too old to run after a term or two by the elected Prez, the odds look better. Plus, it is a good way to get a running start towards the nomination. Al Gore, Fritz Mondale, Bush the Elder, H.H. Humphrey all were aided by the spot for the nomination. Of course, Quayle is a counter-example. Also, with the rise of early primaries and decline of caucuses, name recognition counts for more.

TOM: Hey.

JERRY: Hey. The butler’s here.

TOM: He is? Listen. When he’s finished, send him over to my house.

JERRY: I’m not sending him to your house.

TOM: Why not?

JERRY: Because the judge decreed he’d become my butler, not my friend’s butler.

TOM: Jerry, he is your butler. You can give him any order you want. That’s what butlers do.

JERRY: But I don’t want to.

KRAMER: Jerry, my house is a pigsty, come on.

(buzzer, Jerry presses the button)

JERRY: Yeah?

SANDI: (from the buzzer’s speaker) It’s Elaine.

JERRY: Come on up.

(The butler comes back from the bedroom with a can of Pledge)

CHARLES: I need more Pledge.

JERRY: More Pledge! I just bought two cans last week and I don’t even have any wood in the house!

CHARLES: Well, it goes fast.

(Sandi enters)

SANDI: (to Charles, very friendly) Hello.

CHARLES: Hello. (he goes back in the bedroom)

JERRY: What’s all this about?

SANDI: We had a date.

JERRY: You had a date? You went out with my butler? Who said you could go out with my butler?

SANDI: Why do I need your permission?

JERRY: Because he’s my butler!
