I had a wolf that was an abandoned pup that someone raised. Then they abondonded her when they realized she wasnt like a “dog”. Stupid people.
Poor thing had serious emotional problems. I went to work after getting her and she ate my waterbed. I kid you not chewed through the side and the mattress what a mess. Then it was the couch then the garage door. Finally got her to stop eating non food items. She had 5 years with me before she passed away. At least she had 5 good years.
Me I got new furniture :)

You may be a zoology "major" but that hardly qualifies you as an expert.
Oh, and you are? I didn't say I was an expert, just pointing out that I study zoology, the science of ANIMALS. My comment was not meant to say that wolves have the right to kill children. You're taking this way out of perspective. I just said they will go after them if they are hungry, I didn't say they were "justified" to do that. I'm just saying what they do....geez.

And I never said anywhere any time eradicate the wolves. I want a hunting and trapping season on them to keep them in check.

OK. Sorry for seeming unnecessarily angry. I agree that hunting is needed to keep wolves in check.

Thanks. Whenever I say I’m a zoology major on FR threads, I immediately get the “that doesn’t mean you’re an expert” response. I never said I was...and when was the last time the self-supposed expert picked up a biology textbook?

I don’t want to look at it, thanks for the warning. There is a video on the BBC site, I need an upgrade to get it to play and don’t think I want to see a kill anyway, but they didn’t think wolves would swim to hunt prey. That’s what the article is about. The wolf was swimming to presumably kill a white goose for dinner. There was an accompanying article and some still shots, they might be hard to photograph in the wild.

Thats the problem, they don’t allow any hunting of the great lakes wolves and there is too damn many of them.
So far there haven’t been many reported in the southern part of MI but if they get this far I would gut-shoot every one I saw.
They are worthless and there was no reason to turn the stupid things loose here.

I adopted a timberwolf a year or so and she ate everybody’s livestock for a 2 mile radius.
Great dogs, major liability.

I think people are misinterpreting my comments. I'm not saying we should keep our hands off the wolves completely. Their populations can get out of control too, and pose a problem for ranchers and wipe out other animal populations. That is why it is crucial for both humans and the balance of the ecosystem to keep the predators in check by trapping some of them.

I watched a presentation by a ranger at Yellowstone and he explained how populations would explode out of control ... So, did this ranger explain how less than 10 calves per 100 makes a healthy, sustainable elk herd?

Gee, I had no idea that wolves are wild animals, and carnivores. I’m shocked, shocked to learn this, and I am farily sure that no one else in this forum had any idea, either. I am waiting for your post with a YouTube link illustrating that water is wet.

People like you are idiots and are the reason hunting is becoming picked on more and more in society. Have you ever hear of Frank Glaser? Of course not, he was perhaps the most knowledgeable Wolf expert that ever lived. On fertile hunting grounds that held way animals than any place in the lower 48, the wolves decimated populations of Moose and Caribou. Right now there are pockets of land in Washington state and Idaho and even Wyoming that are wastelands because of wolves. Not only are they killing all the deer and elk, but they are also killing all of the predators (cougar/coyote). Reproduction only out paces predators who eat what they kill. As far as hunts only being successful 1 out of 4 times, that is BS. Maybe on dry ground during the summer and early fall, but not in snow during the winter. Do some research before you spew your “opinion”
