There are good and bad in every single group you could put together in our world. This is not to say that the examples you brought up don’t happen — but, the way you are putting forth the assertion in response to Cindy’s post makes one believe that you feel EVERY cop out there is interested in participating in this sort of illegal, abusive, harassing activity — against the very citizens they have sworn to protect and defend.

I completely understand being wary — as I said, there are good and bad in every group — but at the same time, there is not a need to be overly paranoid, either.

We need to work to change some of the regulations concerning liability that make people “above the law” when it comes to these abuses, and that would make the situation immensely better for all concerned. Then we would still have some of the security that a police presence provides, but at the same time be more protected from abuses.

As for NY making an effort to increase security on the Subways themselves — I say, good job! I’m sure the people of NY are mostly of the mindset that this would’ve been a good idea years ago — even without the added element of a terrorist threat.

BTW, 600 THOUSAND of them and we get about a 50 percent clearance on our murders, no dent in our drug trafficking or its attendant street violence, where cops will often not even attempt EVEN IN SMALL and relatively PEACEFUL jurisdictions to solve serious crimes like burglary but where many of these small jurisdictions DO have a SWAT-type team with full body armor, automatic weapons and the attitude to match while busting down doors (sometimes the wrong ones) in unconstitutional no-knock raids on the word of a criminal informant.

And if they do kill someone, accidentally or otherwise, they get administrative time until they are, inevitably allowed to continue in their job or AT WORST, made to leave the force but not sentenced to prison time.

Hell, Lon Horiuchi got a medal.

Try digging up some info about the LA Rampart Division CRASH unit. LAPD for the most part has been purged. Then there’s Chicago...

Damn straight! Everyone should go hang out in a cop bar for a while, and get to know them better. Be prepared to meet a bunch of strange and scary critters!

Don’t misunderstand me, I have no issue with a police presence but I find something unsavory about the whole thing and I take issue with anyone who utters anything remotely resembling, “good (or the innocent) have nothing to fear from ___infringement on liberty/suspicion/etc__.”

And again, you’re just way into NYC. There is a world and some ideals that extend beyond any given municipality or megalopolis.

I’m sure your “common knowledge” Skywalk is completely different from my factual knowledge.

Thank you for your feedback.
Enjoy your weekend.

Many areas are under-funded, under-manned and under-trained. A lot of rural communities are dealing with big city type crime and aren’t prepared for it.

I believe the budget for the NYPD is about a billion dollars.

Thank you for the ping LibertyRocks.

And you are 100% correct when you said, “There are good and bad in every single group you could put together in our world.”

Have a great weekend.
I’m hoping for no snow shoveling.

I sure will.

Stay warm.

I’m looking like a penguin these days all wrapped up.

Well, spring is coming...eventually.

So you’re actually going to state that what I listed in my first post to you was not factual whereas whatever stuff you have NOT made us privy to in this thread is factual.

And you laughed at my post? Please.

Have a good weekend yourself. You may want to google some of the things I listed and actually do some RESEARCH because a lot of people who sound like me sounded like you do now. Does it mean that all cops are thugs? Of course not. But I think the pictures is not so pretty as you would paint for us in this thread.

Of course, that’s if you even attempted to do some rebutting of your own instead of mocking internet laughter and cheap insinuation that I’m somehow a leftist for knowing things you do not or will not.

Still, thing is, you won’t see to your own self defense, you need them, I don’t, I’m not ready to go on welfare yet!
I know some good cops, they are just trying to make it to retirement.
Tell me this, if something goes bump in the night, do you reach for your phone, or do you reach for your S&W? Hell, most of the time I can’t even find my phone but I always know where the old M-59 is!
Military training is cool, but they still can’t put both legs in their britches at the same time, and they still need to buy toilet paper!
You are welfare dependent, may as well just set back and beg for food too!
With just a little bit of effort you might make a fine democrat, go for it!

Good morning folks.

I do not like to see this type of thing. The public is being conditioned to accept the coming dictatorship under the guise of security. Hitler did the same thing. Most of our gun laws are lifted from Nazi Germany.

I’m with swapsniper here. I’ll protect myself. I don’t sleep with a phone on the nightstand. I sleep with a Sig Sauer P220 on the nightstand.

Instead of increasing our police force, how about we increase our military and start fighting this war to win it, by killing our foes without mercy until they no longer wish to fight.

The best defense is a good offense.

It would be much easier to just deport anyone who belongs to the subversive group that plans to take over the USA and convert it to its ideology by violent means.

I read something lately that makes a lot of sense to me, “I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy”.

After reading this, I think I have a solution for people who feel they need “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” to protect them. Get out of NYC.

“The people of NY are mostly” a nutless, gutless mess of socialist, mewling little crybabies! They left old Europe, but they still miss it! Maybe they should just go back, I damned sure won’t try to stop them!
