Lee Kuan Yew essentially endorses John McCain!
Straits Times | 2 February 2008 | Straits Times

Posted on 02/02/2008 4:40:36 AM PST by watsonfellow

I can't find the internet link but in todays Straits Times it was reported that at a conference on Singapore 2030, Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew said that Obama was a flash in the pants and wouldn't have the experience to lead America. He said many kind words about John McCain. Attack Mr. Lee if you want, but he has lead Singapore into the first world in a very conservative fashion.

My wife once accused me of being a flash in the pants.

But I was younger then - and less patient....

Has Lee ever visited America?

None the less I doubt your assertions.

Indeed.

However, of all the worlds’ leaders... Mr. Lee is perhaps the most genuinely conservative.....and a steadfast ally of the USA, even when it is costly (neighbor and littoral state to Malaysia and Indonesia)!

Um yes, he goes to the US several times a year.

Indeed some of his children studied here. In point of fact, his daughter (funny story) was at medical school in Boston and was invited to Kennebunk port (sic) and was caught speeding!

Doubt my assertion if you will, but this is the fact. Mr. Lee also in a round a bout way endorsed Bush in 2004.

Doubt me if you will, but actually do the research if you want to pop off.

The expression is flash in the pan.

http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/flash-in-the-pan.html

“Flintlock muskets used to have small pans to hold charges of gunpowder. An attempt to fire the musket in which the gunpowder flared up without a bullet being fired was a ‘flash in the pan’.”

No surprise. They're both authoritarians. The fact that Lee happens to be mostly benign to business doesn't alter the fact that he was a dictator in everything but name.

And you can be that "Minister Mentor" Lee is still pulling the strings of government behind the scenes.

I lived in Singapore for 4 years - ‘94 - ‘98. They are VERY staunch allies of the US.

McCain is to the left of Hillary, but he obscures it with the R.

A McCain presidency would be like a national HIV infection.
Slow death from something you don’t even know is there.

Hillary would be an open, festering wound. Plain to see and curable.

Well, most of the states didn’t have a voice in the nominating process, so it’s not surprising we’re letting foreign countries tell us who to send to the WH.

Flintlock muskets used to have small pans to hold charges of gunpowder. An attempt to fire the musket in which the ............... I always thought the term “flash in the pan” came about in the old gold prospecting community where a flash in the pan brought expectations of a new discovery of gold but in the end was found that it did not pan out.

I do not need Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew to tell me what it has been like under McCain rule since 2000. McCain is the back side of Hillary.
