A Question to Those Considering Sitting Out or Voting for Hillary
2/2/08 | FargoRock

Something has been bothering me all week and I'm hoping someone here can make me understand. Since 2001, we've been calling the Democrats a party of surrender, anti-war, anti-troops, etc. McCain has his faults. There's no question about it. But why are people like Ann Coulter, Tammy Bruce, Michelle Malkin and many here ready to hand over control of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the future of the War on Terror, and the care of our troops to Hillary Clinton? That's what will happen if people decide to either stay home or vote for Hillary in some kind of misguided moral protest. Don't our troops deserve better than that? It's throwing them to the wolves.

There is no doubt that Ann was trying desperately to avoid the catastrophe of a McCain nomination, but there is also no doubt that she was dead serious about voting for, and even campaigning for, Hillary Clinton, should Republicans be stupid enough to ignore her warning.

Maybe, it’s because we think that it doesn’t do much good to secure Iraq and Afghanistan if we surrender at home, as McCain would have us do. Guantanamo, interrogations, wire tapping, military tribunals, all important to homeland security, but McCain doesn’t care.

I would have mentioned the border fence, but McCain is promising to build it, but that’s not up to the president, is it?

Back-stabbing RINO’s MUST be stopped and purged.

exactly. I would like to see the likes of Arnold, Crist, any any other RINO, Global Warming governors literally expelled from the party. We need to truly get back to our roots of limited government and Liberty. Freedom is a timeless and universal desire. The parties must offer a contrast. We are moving ever forward to Socialism. The RINOs are just getting us there a littler slower than the libs. The end point is the same -- the destruction of our Republic. Never again will I vote for any RINO. McCain will NEVER get my vote.

I’ll vote for our nominee. If it isn’t Mitt (my 3rd choice) I *WILL* mail my pitchfork to the convention and change my party affiliation (loudly) prior to voting...

**Those Considering Sitting Out or Voting for Hillary**

I think this would be a big mistake.

Certain segments of the Republican Party would love to render other segments impotent in deciding the direction the party is heading. These moderate righties see a great opportunity with the way the Dems are situated right now to sway the Republican Party leftwards gathering enough support from independents and moderate Dems to offset the loss of the conservative right while still enlarging the umbrella of the party. They may succeed, but I don’t think they’ll like what they are creating if they do.

Since Reagan, the RP has moved more and more in this leftward direction and at some point we just have to say “no more” if we are to have a party that represents our views at all in the future.

I don’t accept buying a mediocre TV that gets a picture only a fraction of the time. I don’t continue to dine at restaurants that tell me to just accept what I’m served and be happy with it and I’m through supporting candidates simply because they call themselves “Republican”.

Anyway, hope that helps explain at least why I’m not voting McCain (nor Dem). I may find a 3rd party candidate I can cast a vote for, even though I know it will only be a protest vote.

I want to know how McLame will react when his generals give him information that he doesn’t like or doesn’t agree with...

The same way LBJ did, he would ignore them.

When you see browbeating on your thread, are you going to tell the RINO posters to buzz off? So far, no. Your thread is an open invitation to them.

By answering only one of my contentions and ignoring others, you give my position short shrift. Answer how you would feel. Would it be impolite as I’ve contended?

“I won’t vote for the angry Senator.”

If we all vote AGAINST McCain in the primaries, no one will have to worry about whether or not to vote for him in the General Election.

additionally....we have two family members fighting the WOT. The mere thought of Hillary as their CIC repulses me. I refuse to have ANY hand in that outcome. Under ANY circumstances.

IT IS NOT AN OPTION

We *need* to get active in any way we can to cultivate real conservatives, working for them locally, encouraging good conservative people to run for office where they can, in order to prevent this kind of bind down the road.

Believe me, I've been trying to do that until I'm blue in the face - it's extra hard to do when the media and the party elites shut the good conservatives out & no one can hear their voice. This election is fixed, I've never seen anything like it.

It's so frustrating to try to promote good conservative candidates to people that get their news from Matt Lauer, Katie Couric and Wolf Blitzer - they always say the same thing - "you're right, he's a good man - but he can't win".

Can't win if people won't vote for them! Most people vote like it's a popularity contest. Oh, the polls put them ahead - the other guy CAN'T win - this is the problem & the damn party elites are treating me like I'm an African-American in the Democrat party. "We can push ANY candidate out there & they will vote for him - because they've got nowhere else to go."

I'm absolutely sick and tired of it & it will not improve until we say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! If the people insist on voting for the "most popular" candidate - then THEY will get the government they deserve. I will be voting for the candidate that has conservative principles & I hope there's enough other people like me to make a difference.

But here's a better idea: why don't we just vote for the other candidate that has a shot to win? Mitt Romney. Not perfect by any means, and not my first or second choice - but contrary to what some on this forum have accused me of - I don't have to agree with a candidate 100% to vote for him. But for God's sake people - McCain????????

How did we get to this point?

Why do you think Bill Clinton should have nuked Mecca in 2000?

There are very good reasons for voters not voting for either of the two nominees! I can’t bring myself to do it and will vote for whichever of the two remains standing, but I strongly feel that any voter has the right to opt out. If it means Hillzilla as prez. and Bill as first laddy, I personally won’t be blaming voters who chose that decision. This has been a terrible presidential election process for conservatives.

I think the statement made by Ann Coulter and the rest are in part made for voters to choose Romney over McCain.

a vote for McCain is a vote for dissolution of the country via amnesty. a vote for McCain is a vote for anarchy - open disregard for the rule of law.

Re-read the posts. Don’t string me along. You’ve already been shown to be impolite, don’t make it worse by playing dumb.

Our troops deserve better than a lying, treacherous, and duplicitious politician like John McCain. he just doesn't have any credibility, after the years we have endured of his leftist judgment on about 90% of the issues. Those who vote to give McCain the nomination, have to take responsibility for that decision, and have to understand the role that THEY will be playing in giving the White House to Hillary.
