Yes. I thought that only the USA had dumbed down government schools. Looks like diva Kumi Koda is as smart as a doorknob.

I strongly suspect that Kumi Koda will change her mind when she herself reaches the rotten womb age of 35!

“I mean lookit....

....a chance at fame, celebrity and the riches and privelages of same...is a rare thing.

So I enjoy when one who almost had it says something so impossibly stupid that they lose everything.”

So you enjoy the failure of others. How brave of you to admit. Most people would be embarrassed and afraid people would think they were heartless bastards if they were to admit they hated people, especially sucessful people.

“Lighten up Francis”

I find the glee that this society takes in the suffering of others distastful. So sue me...

Heh.

There’s always one self-righteous jerk in the crowd, eh?

Why don’t you go get laid? You’ll feel better.

When you consider that celebrities are generally detestible people who through their words and actions promote values and behaviors that are destructive to society, it makes sense that people enjoy watching them self destruct.

It appears that Japanese celebrities have as much scientific expertise as American celebs.

Yes, but there is something impressive about the fact that the comment itself, which probably would've passed unnoticed here, has generated such outrage and forced such an abject apology in Japan.

You make a good point ... I'm glad my loudmouth, dumb-ass 25yo self wasn't in front of a camera all the time ...

I'm also glad FR has a preview feature.

What I find refreshing (if it has been translated correctly) is that her apology is an actual apology.

It's not a clintonesque "If I offended ..." collection of weasel words.

Celebrities are no better or worse than any other random sampling of society. There are nice ones and there are @ssholes.

Since it’s unlikely many of the people on this thread who are taking delight in ‘what’s her name’s’ plight have even heard of her before, how would you know which category she falls into?

Jealousy and spitefulness are the only reasons some people enjoy dragging celebrities, or anyone else more successful than themselves, down.

They aren’t attributes people generally brag about having.

That’s a nice platitude but I think reality is very different. Virtually every celeb I have ever heard of has shown themselves to be in the A-hole category. Can you name more than a handful who aren’t?

Perhaps folks in the traditional “celebrity” lines of work that are not A-holes don’t seek the typical trappings of celebrity.

yes, without even trying hard. You probably could too if you quit reading the tabloid press, which only focuses on celebrity morons. The vast majority of famous people quietly go about their business without ever appearing in a tabloid unless it is a fabricated story. Will Smith, Tom Hanks, Tom Selleck, Jane Seymour, Katherine Zeta Jones, Diane Lane, Ann Hathaway, Natalie Portman, Clair Danes, Kate Beckinsale, etc. etc.

Well, the eggs are old and there are more complications (including Downs syndrome, etc) for mothers over 35. Thats an irrefutable fact.

Having said that, her theory strikes me as quite novel. As in, made up out of whole cloth.
