I wonder what the deal is with DeSoto, 1 of 51 reporting. It should go for Huckabee but I doubt there are enough Republicans there to make any difference.

As I understand it, the candidate gets all the candidates so long as they get over fifty percent of the popular vote.

If neither candidate gets over fifty percent, then the delegates are “uncommitted”, whatever that portends.

“”” The SOS shows Hillary winning Livingston Parish 3-1 over Obama. Those numbers are so out of touch with the surrounding Parishes (and the rest of the state) it appears that something is not quite right. “””

Oh, that is probably correct. That is David Duke territory {former head of the KKK}.

This is the weirdest election
season EVER! At the least it’s
showing up the arrogance of
the know-it-all pundits.

Based on the vote outstanding, McCain could pick up a net 7000 votes or so before the night is over which have him winning LA by 3000 or so votes. Of course this is based on quick figuring in my head and it assumes the percentage of votes captured in each parush stays the same.

That’s a pretty light turnout if they only got 20,000 votes out of Orleans parish for the Dems.

In Louisiana, the Republican Party will ‘pledge’ delegates only if a candidate gets 50%+1 vote (a majority). If no majority exists, the delegates go as uncommitted.

Nope, that is Livingston Parish.

Look at it on the Republican side. Not as dramatic but still off kilter. I work over that way on occasion and they are er ugh hummmm “an interesting lot”.

I know where DeSoto is, but don't know much of anything about the parish. Heavily democrat?

Huck is starting to close the gap a little in East Baton Rouge parish - down to 16 points. That is very good news for him.

It dosen’t look good for Huck at all. We need Caddo and DeSoto to come in big.

McCain still has a lot of uncounted votes in East Baton Rouge, Orleans and Jefferson.

Fox just announced that all of LA's delgates will be uncomitted since no one will reach 50%.

Does that mean they are open to purchase if the convention is close? We could have a lot of Cajuns in the next administration when jobs are being handed out for votes.

Yeah. The only really true Republican parishes are the Floridas and Jefferson.

"Does that mean they are open to purchase if the convention is close?"

It means that they are not tied to any candidate, yes.

The slate of delegates elected in the last round was 90% Thompson supporters... however, I understand that most of them had McCain as their second choice.
