A caller mentioned the video where Reagan pushes the button.
Actually it was for Genesis, “Land of confusion” and it featured the Spitting image puppets from England. He pushes
“nuke” instead of “nurse”

purse-carrying male judge from Newbury MA plea bargained guilty to DWI charge

It was so heart-warming to hear Howie so happy! He just loves those human interest stories! Especially about judges! ;-)

Ugh.

It’s rough listening to Mitt trying to sell McCain right now.

Howie's giving too much play to Romney's endorsement of McCain.

Really, what's the point, other than highlighting Mitt trying to become one of the usual suspects, er, a team player in the Republican Party?

And I'm sure the delegates will think hard between listening to Mitt and going with McCainiac, or the Huckster, McCain's tag team conspirator.

It looks like from the header is N. Illinois. that's Dekalb.

I'd say that's mabye 100 or 125 miles north of here.

My internet connection is slow, plus Firefox was updated last week, and it looks like they screwed up the script handling.

Newsbreak said the guy is dead.

How about a Love Bandit Vermont Teddy Bear? :)

IIRC, his wife answered the phone earlier -- maybe "hot tongue and cold shoulder"!

Hack’s rants one train wreck after the next
By Howie Carr | Friday, February 15, 2008 | http://www.bostonherald.com

How many more times do people have to be told: “Never write when you can speak. Never speak when you can nod. Never nod when you can wink.”

And never, ever send a series of easily traceable e-mails full of anti-gay slurs to a gay member of the Deval Patrick administration (even if he’s a gay Republican holdover from earlier GOP administrations).

The hack du jour is one Mark Roberts, who is now, but probably will not be much longer, a $49,000-a-year paralegal at the state Department of Correction. He is the author of the scurrilous e-mails in question, and it was certainly a rotten thing to do, especially to the gay Republican, MBTA General Manager Dan Grabauskas.

After all, Grabauskas did a fine job turning around the Registry of Motor Vehicles, and has done as much as possible (which is apparently not that much) at the MBTA.

This Roberts, who makes $26.30 an hour (we learn this in his Jan. 10 e-mail from a DOC address), is a typical T commuter. He is mad as hell and he is not going to take it anymore. But he made a major error:

Thinking that somebody at the MBTA would give a bleep (to use one of Roberts’ favorite words) about his complaints.

Here’s an early Roberts missive that caught the attention of the honchos at 10 Park.

“The evening Fram/Worc trains are late getting to Grafton at least 60% of the time.”

Sixty percent, you say? You know what the T would call that - an improvement!

Here’s his complaint about a winter wonderland:

“At 4:45 while trying to get to South Station - I could hardly get thru the mounds of snow piled up on Atlantic & Essex Streets to get to the Train Platform.”

But look on the bright side, Roberts. Soon the snow will be gone. Spring is coming. Speaking of which, let’s go to another of his complaints, about boarding the “Worcester Express” (fill in your own joke here) on Track 4, after first being told it was on Track 1:

“After 15 minutes waiting on the train in the dark with no air conditioning on one of the hottest days of the year - we were told the train is out of service - we now have to go to Track 3.”

First he’s complaining about snow, now he’s whining about the heat. There’s no satisfying this guy.

You first begin to realize that Roberts is losing it when he directs the T flunky to “have Mr. Grabuskis (sic) call me at work. My phone # is (617) 727-3300.”

That’s the main DOC number. At this point you can add another line to the “Never write when you can speak” admonition. Never, ever give them your real phone number, especially if you’re writing obscenities to your own employers, on their own e-mail account.

“PLEASE DO NOT INSULT MY INTELEGENCE (sic) by offering me one of your weak unsinsire (sic) apologies.”

He’s a very “intelegent” guy, you see. And the MBTA is “INCOMPANT” because the conductors don’t collect “fairs.” Another addition to the list of do’s and don’ts: “When accusing someone else of being stupid, use Spell Check.”

This, from Nov. 29: “I wish I only had to do half my job like these lazy bastards you have working for you!!”

A state employee, calling other state employees “lazy bastards,” on his state e-mail no less. Whatever happened to professional courtesy? But nobody at the T seemed to care until Roberts brought up Grabauskas’ sexual orientation last month.

Roberts has sent a groveling letter of apology to Grabauskas, without a single misspelling, but it’s probably too late. He’ll be long gone from the state payroll way ahead of Carl Stanley McGee of Florida steam room fame, and McGee was making considerably more than $26.30 an hour.

LOL! I heard Howie going over that on the radio yesterday! How could the guy be that stupid -- I wonder if his brain was defective at installation or contaminated by working for the state too long! D'ya think he might have been a hack appointment? ;-)

IIRC, and the details are fuzzy, state employees used to have Internet access -- until technicians doing a routine repair or something reported that someone at the State House (someone high enough up to have a private office) had downloaded lots and lots of porn on his state computer. So, naturally, the state removed Internet access from all employees -- unless they had a permission slip or something from their dep't head that they needed it for their jobs. I wonder if now the state will remove email access and make them go back to snail mail, telephone tag, or carrier pigeon!

There are lots of people who do dumb things on a computer and are suspended—whether it’s their home computer or at work.
We have been talking on other threads about Bernie Ward,
ultra-lib talk host on KGO in San Fran (at one time he
was nationally syndicated, including WRKO). A few years
ago (it’s only now being prosecuted/coming out in the news),
he was doing sexual chitchat online with a woman nearby
and talked about how he had had sex with his son, etc.

Ward then sent pix to the woman, including one with a
woman in her late 30s, a 14 year old boy, and a 12 year old
girl. Woman: topless; boy, nude; girl, clothed—but all
touching each other in a sexual way. And so on. Authorities
traced it to him via his AOL screen name. Now he could be in big trouble (Michael Savage devoted pretty much his
whole show to this last night)

Ward did this on his own computer using an AOL screen
name that could be traced back to him. Another genius.

(A lib blog but note that it has a link to Savage’s
site where there is a .pdf file of the chat logs.)
Oh, Ward claims he was “doing research for a book”.

Oh, Ward claims he was “doing research for a book”.

Seems to me I heard that excuse elsewhere for something similar recently -- not him. I guess that's going to be another line along with "The check is in the mail" and "I'm from the government and I'm here to help." LOL!

I hate that this idiot had to bring up anti-gay slurs against Grabauskas -- out of bounds ad hominem and, AFAIK, Grabauskas neither keeps it a secret nor makes some kind of crusade out of it! And what he did at the Registry was little short of a miracle IMO!

U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Robert Somma, 63, struck a plea deal with the city Wednesday in which he pleaded no contest to a first-offense misdemeanor driving while intoxicated charge in Manchester District Court. In exchange, the judge agreed to pay $600 in fines and penalties and a 12-month license suspension, which can be reduced to six months if he proves he successfully completed a driver education and alcohol awareness course, court records show. ►Federal judge guilty in Manchester DWI (31) The arresting officer made no mention of the judge's attire in the written report police provided to the media other than to note the judge "had a difficult time locating his license in his purse." Two sources confirmed Somma was wearing a cocktail dress, women's hose and high heels when his Mercedes-Benz E320 sedan struck a pickup truck stopped at a red light on Elm Street about 11:29 p.m. on Feb. 6. "He told police his wife was out of town ... so he decided to come up to Manchester where no one would know him," said a city government official speaking on condition of anonymity. The official said he was told of the incident by a top police administrator during a briefing session. Somma, who lives in Newbury, Mass., had a hard time keeping his balance, smelled of alcohol and slurred his speech, the police report shows. He failed the field sobriety test and took a breath test at the station that registered a blood alcohol level of .12, according to the police report. The judge told police he had been at the Breezeway Pub at 14 Pearl St. where he had two gin and tonics about two hours earlier, the police report shows. Ronald K. Forest of Weare, who was driving the pickup Somma struck, declined comment. While police said no one was hurt in the collision, Forest said he and his passenger sought medical help the next day. Attorney John J. Cronin III of Bennington contacted the city's lawyers Monday to begin working out a plea deal for his client, which enabled Somma to avoid trial. Somma was set to be arraigned Feb. 25. Cronin could not be reached for comment. Somma was appointed a First Circuit Court bankruptcy judge in 2004. First Circuit Court spokesmen said Somma is a judge in good standing with no history of problems.

It’s been mentioned several times that the judge was appointed by GHW Bush. But aren’t federal judges normally proposed by a US Senator from the state in question? I don’t know quite what the Senator looks for, apart from a history of campaign contributions . . . ;-)

I don’t know who (what senator) may have appointed him and
if that’s the procedure or not.

I have a thread going about this, and getting some
good response.
