Cameras flashed as Republican Presidential Candidate Doctor Alan Keyes greeted Beaumont. "I'm extremely excited, its been an honor to be involved with the campaign," said Valerie Loewer. Valeria Loewer of Beaumont oragnized the rally "Renew America" at Rogers Park. Loewer said, "Today is important because every day we are moving closer and closer up the primaries, every day is important and the word has to get out, we've got to get out so that we show that we have a choice." Loewer supports Dr. Keyes for his basic platform qualities... pro family, pro life, and pro soverignty.

"I'm trying to bring the Republican Party back to its good solid republican roots, trying to bring America back to its roots and the Declaration of Independence and a simple truth that this is the government of the people, by the people, for the people," said Dr. Alan Keyes.

Keyes believes he will make a good President because he will give the nation the change it's looking for...a positve change. Keyes said, "We want good change and that means turn the country in the right direction, start by remembering who God is, standing on the moral ground of our solid principles of freedom and secure our border and fight strongly against these murderous thugs that are trying to kill us around the world, then restore the power of the American people by abolishing the income tax, institute the fair tax by giving people back control over their money."

Valerie Loewer said, "We have a choice of the true basic principals, so the Republican party can stand firm." Keyes beleives his voice will be heard while he travels city to city in Texas sharing his political views with solid grass root Conservatives.

Interview Quotes:

"We're just going around the state getting in touch with people that share my views and my heart, real conservatives that the grass roots in the Republican party who are really disappointed, discouraged and to what degree outraged at the idea that we are supposed to come together and support John McCain."

"Some elites in the Republican Party think they are going to shove this down our heart and they have any chance in November, they're utterly wrong."

"I want to offer a Conservative alternative that will actually give us an opportunity for victory in November."

How has Texas treated you? "Very well and I knew it would."

"Voters in Texas would have a historic opportunity to turn this whole process around and in fact Texas was a place where we have a solid conservative grass roots that has been very influential in producing some of the best platform material that any state has, the best legislation."

"Pro life, pro national security, strong on border security, strong on physical responsibility, strong in support of getting rid of an income tax system that has become so destructive to our economic well being, strong on the defensive American interests in trade."

"Everything that I have fought for in the past years, there are a large number of people in the grass roots of Texas who agree with me."

Beaumont? "Very friendly, and very good, we've gotten a very good feedback in Beaumont."

Presidents? "I think the most important thing is the moral principle this nation was founded on, our rights come from God and must be exercised with the authority of God and there for in policies like abortion we can't turn our back on inalienable rights of Children in the womb and on that solid foundation, we rebuild the foundation of this united nation."

"Want conservatives to understand that they should not drop out of this process; I think people think that if they have to vote for John McCain then they say I'm out of here."

"We can remain involved and achieve a victory in Texas that will turn the situation around throughout the country; good conservatives are waiting for hope, and let’s offer them some."

"I think Texas voters have the opportunity to show the kind of independence, the real freedom that Texas has represented throughout our history and that Texas leadership has represented and I think it could turn things around in the right direction."

"We need solid conservative leadership for America, not a Conservative Judas that has stabbed us in the back time and time again, it's intolerable."

"The bedrock basis of my whole political campaign has been to recall people to the Godly principals of our declaration of independence that our right comes from God."

"My whole purpose in politics has been to turn this around and it's important to rally people of faith and involved in the process because who’s going to witness to the authority of God, other than people who believe in him."

"Americans don't want change, American's want change for the better. The word change is empty it could mean bad change or good change."

"We want good change and that means turn the county in the right direction, start by remembering who God is, standing on the moral ground of our sol[d principals of freedom and secure our border and fight strongly against these murderous thugs that are trying to kill us around the world, then restore the power of the American people by abolishing the income tax, institute the federal tax by giving people back control over their money."

"Have education that is controlled by parents instead of bureaucrats, I think Americans want the restoration of liberty, it has been sold out by a wealthy elite that has sold us out for the sake of special interest and we want our country back."

"I think the war in Iraq in an inevitable consequence of these thugs than are trying to kill us."

"If we stop fighting before the enemy stops trying to kill us do you know what that means? We die, we don't have a choice about this the only choice we have is are we going to be effective, are we going to fight for victory or are we going to turn tail and run until our children die in the school yards and the malls and the streets because we haven't defeated these terrorists in their back yard."

"I’d rather defeat them over there and that’s what I’ll do as president."

"I think the most important issue facing Texas is education, moral truth without a decent moral environment then you don't get moral good education."

"Restore the moral allegiance of our country to the simple premise of God's authority, God's responsibility to Liberty."

"Have schools that align their faith with their morals values and we will be building a solid basis for disciplined education, moral character and achievement for our kids."

Health care? "We need to revamp our concept of health, instead of worrying about how to heal the sick lets talk about how to keep people healthy."

"It's better to spend a dollar getting people to exercise three times a week, eating the right diet for their kind of metabolism, every dollar we spend on than we probably spend 10 dollars on a drug for some kind of cardiovascular medicine."

"If you make good decisions and if you put the emphasis there and then put it on empowering the consumer."

"If you make good decisions and you chose the decision that is the best value for your money, you will then be able to save money against that time when you need them."

"I'm trying to bring the Republican Party back to its good solid republican roots, trying to bring American back to its roots and the Declaration of Independence and a simple truth that this is government by the people for the people."

"I’m loathe to think nothing has been decided until the people of Texas have weighed in."

“Hopeful” doesn’t really spring to mind with regard to Amb. Keyes. Hopeless, maybe.

As much as I respect Mr. Keyes, he needs to set his sights on a lower office and get some real experience. If he does a good job, then move to a higher office. For now, his presidential prospects are about as probable as mine.

"I’m loathe to think nothing has been decided until the people of Texas have weighed in."

You can read that statement and come up with two opposite meanings.

Best Keyes should start at a less important office, like this one!

He already lost big time to Obama a few years ago. I don't know why he's wasting his time.

I agree but it’s too late. He should have bailed on Maryland 20 years ago and gone somewhere that he could have a shot and established some credibility there.

He was never going to be elected in Maryland or anyplace north from there.

At his age (in his 50’s) there’s no time to be seen as anything but a carpetbagger anywhere else and still have time to build up credibility.

Since Mississippi has no role, I’ll vote for him next month as a protest vote - I was an active supporter in ‘96 and 2000 - but his window (which was always very tiny) has long since closed.

—He was never going to be elected in Maryland or anyplace north from there.—

True enough. Keyes’ heart (and ideology) is in the right place, but he comes across as a bit daft. Not many people are going to elect the Prophet Jeremiah to office these days; certainly not in the Northeast, rust belt (IL) or mid-Atlantic.
