Breaking with the Bush Administration, two senior Republican Senators called today for Pentagon spending reductions that are twice as great as those offered by the President.

The proposals by the two Senators, William S. Cohen of Maine and John McCain of Arizona, would reduce spending on strategic nuclear weapons and on forces designed mainly to defend Europe against a Soviet attack over a five-year period.

Specifically they would curtail the Pentagon's Stealth, or B-2, bomber program, reduce the number of new submarine-launched ballistic missiles and hold off production of new missile and sensor systems designed to block a Soviet armored advance in Europe.

Bush Modernization Plan

The Bush Administration has proposed an across-the-board modernization of strategic nuclear forces, asserting that Moscow is continuing to modernize its arsenal of long-range nuclear weapons.

This is the same guy who complained Clintoon slashed the military budget, yet he aided and abetted the "peace dividend" crowd starting back in the Bush I era.

Too bad... not only does your boy suck in real time, he has a sucky record too.

You’re right, though. Stick your head in the sand and ignore his record. I’m sure his opponent will.

Why should that surprise anyone. John is a lefty. He couldn’t help himself then and he can’t help himself today.

Maybe if McCain fought as hard against Clinton’s gutting of the military as he did against Rumsfield who had the tough job of taking on a Defense department after a Clinton, times would be better...

His point is that McCain derides the Clinton cuts, yet his proposal at the time was for cutting double what Clinton did.

Uh, and where did he suggest that he supports Obama?

Wow. What impressive logic! I see I’ve been wrong all along. Well, gotta run — you’ve convinced me to go write John-boy a big check.

I find it interesting too that although McCain say he will fight the war on terror, I haven’t seen anything of his plans for miltary funding.

And now this. You just wonder if they ‘war on terror’ line is just another platitude thrown out there for meat to dupe conservatives in voting for him.

McLame supporters actually see what’s going on, they know this guy has no shot in hell of winning in November, the mental constipation these folks are going through right now is priceless.

Pissant, it kills me to say this. But we are stuck with McVain, no matter what we do.

Post what you find, comment on the record, but realize that the decision has been taken out of our hands. The elites in the GOP have decided it will be McVain, and they are working to make sure that ANY true conservative voice will be silenced.

Will I vote for him? No. I will withhold that press of the button from the elites. We must prepare to retake the party over the next 4 years.

To that end what I will be concentrating on are the House and Senate races, especially the Senate races.

That is our one hedge on whatever we get either Dim or GOP.

Screw you. You don’t run this board. If you don’t like facts, no one’s requiring you to stay here.

The bully tactics of the McCainites is getting on my nerves.

Remind me again just who your candidate is/was?!?

I ask, because all I ever see you post is something inflammatory against every candidate post or present.

As distasteful as Grover Norquist is to many of us, he nailed the McCain rise. He is also now backing McCain.

“In retrospect, McCain may have been saved by his campaign meltdown last summer, says Grover Norquist, another prominent conservative activist and president of Americans for Tax Reform. “Had he stayed the front runner, the talk-show hosts would have had the opportunity to make a case against him,” Norquist says. But they didn’t realize he was making a comeback until New Hampshire and South Carolina, and “by the time they tried to make a case, it was too late.”

You get off it. We always hear about how he’s strong on national defense. Well...this was the cold war...and it hadn’t been won yet. It’s legit. We have a war on terror that hasn’t been won yet. Seems to me it is appropriate to compare the two. If he wasn’t that strong then...show me where he’s changed.
