The Truth About the Swift Boat Vets and Kerry's Deceit
Human Events ^ | February 14, 2008 | Cheryl K. Chumley

"I'm John Kerry, and I'm reporting for duty."

Who can forget this now-infamous July 29, 2004, Democratic National Convention acceptance speech when the party's nominee publicly set his course for the next few months?

"At the heart of the 2004 presidential campaign was a long-deferred national debate over whether American troops had systematically committed war crimes in Vietnam, as John Kerry and other activists had insisted, and as Hollywood, the media and much of the American public had long assumed," begins Chapter One of To Set the Record Straight: How Swift Boat Veterans, POWs and the New Media Defeated John Kerry.

Settling Scores

At root, co-authors Scott Swett and Tim Ziegler provide readers a remarkable and painstakingly notated historical account of the cultural war that coursed beneath the 2004 presidential election — a cultural war that pitted mainstream media against truth, and brought to the forefront of political influence the likes of Internet bloggers, talk-radio hosts and a handful of humble but righteously indignant veterans who simply refused to cave in on their cause. But on the way toward documenting that point, the book offers much more.

Kerry sure got quiet after Pickens requested some actual documentation, didn't he?

He sure did! I had the pleasure of listening to Pickens during a radio interview a while back (don't remember with who) when he outlined the whole thing. I was cheering as I was driving down the highway, LOL. Put up, or shut up, John Kerry!

I'd like to hear more of the same--Kerry shouldn''t be able to get away with this.

p.s. I was reading something today at Media Matters that reiterated the same slurs, saying the SBVFTs distorted, etc. It gets my blood boiling real good. (grrrrrr....)

“Forgive my intrusion, but, IMHO, that’s far too simplistic an approach. In fact, I would argue that’s the approach that the SwiftVets took into the May 4, 2004 press conference. “If we just tell what we saw. Swear to it in depositions. Then, lay it out for the American people via their watchdog the press. Everything will be ok.”

Well, It didn’t work out that way! It’s STILL not going to work out that way if the MSM has anything to do with it. Kerry is STILL running for the US Senate and no one seems to have said ‘Boo’ about it.”

That is because Kerry continues to run as a U.S. Senator in the most liberal state in this nation - The People’s Republic of Massachusetts. These are the same liberal hypocrites that turn a blind eye to drunken Ed Kennedy leaving a young woman to drown while he swims away and lies about the ordeal - then keep electing the scumbag for almost 40 more years as a U.S. Senator! Talk about stuck on stupid!

Kerry CAN get away with his crap in Massachusetts, but he CANNOT get away with his previous words & actions in America as a whole. The Swifties helped make sure of that.

“That’s considerably easier to type than it was to actually make happen.”

That may be the understatement of the century.

I don't necessarily disagree, but I won't condemn the SwiftVets for stepping down once Kerry was defeated for POTUS, but you would think this would be the perfect issue for all of the Conservative Pac's and 527's to rally around and demand that Senator X state his position on whether or not Kerry should be in the US Senate based upon the sworn testimoney of Kerry's shipmates?

Conservatives want to gripe about liberals - well, here ya go.

Regards,

TS

Boston Globe, LA Times and some other third party DOES NOT equate to signing the damn 1080 so the general public has access.

Just another LIBERAL lie kabar...

Kerry signed the SF 180 [not 1080] to make the claim that he signed it. The only problem is that he restricted the release of the info. At CPAC, I met with Jeff Beatty, the guy running against Kerry this year. Good guy. He deserves all of our support.

A present well deserved.

It’s increasingly evident that more is needed. The MSM, and the dimmacrap party continue to assault the reputations of our troops. They need to pay the price.

The attractive book is right on the the top of my coffee table. Now that the excitement leading up to and after Super Tuesday is over, I plan on tearing myself away from the computer earlier at night so I can get going on it this weekend!

When visiting folks pick up the book and leaf through it, I can grandly say with a smug, superior smile that I know the authors, heheh.

Freepers, let's support our own by ordering copies of the book for youself and for a terrific birthday gift for someone.

It's a great investment because it's a part of of our country's presidential history at its most fascinating....and we lived through it, my oh my, DIDN'T we!

I would even venture to opine that every member of FR is an honorary godparent to this book.

I'd say loan it to your liberal brother-in-law, but the son-of-a-gun probably wouldn't give it back, LOL.

None of these reviews ever mentions that there is also your amazing and subtle humor in the book.

There is also the fact that you are getting good press. That is more than I can say for my corner of the world at the moment.. ;-)

It’s worth noting that the Left still maintains as an article of faith that the Swift Boat Vets have been completely debunked regarding their statements on Kerry. The fact that Kerry still has not allowed a complete unrestricted military records release means nothing to them.
