Biblical hero Joseph 'was really a Muslim' Palestinians make astonishing claim, deny they'll help restore burned tomb

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Building at Joseph's Tomb site after Palestinian Authority took control in 2000 .

In the wake of an attempt by Palestinians to burn down Joseph's Tomb – Judaism's third holiest site – Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah faction issued a statement denying it will help restore the shrine, referring to both the shrine and the biblical patriarch as "Muslim."

"Pay no attention to the rumors that we will work with Israel to restore the burial site of the holy Muslim Joseph," said the statement, issued from Nablus, the biblical city of Shechem. "We are going to guard this holy Muslim site."

Joseph's Tomb is the believed burial place of the son of Jacob who was sold by his brothers into slavery and later became viceroy of Egypt.

Since most of this information is based on the Christian Bible or Jewish Tora, one this is missing from post #41.

Jacob is also known as Isreal. Thus since Joseph is the son of Isreal, Joseph is an Isrealite. Since he predates Islam it is difficult to be a Muslim, one who practices Islam.

Joseph had 12 brothers who became the 12 tribes of Isreal. So is the brother of the nation of Isreal and son of the person Isreal a Muslim?

Let me get this straight... the favorite son of Jacob (who was named "Israel" by God) is, in fact, not a member of the Israelite nation but a member of a religion that was founded 2,000 years after his time...?!

Just another example that they don't teach logic in Islam.

If he was born in modern day Iraq, then he was an Iraqi .... using modern day “anchor baby” standards, a point that I was careful to make. Reread my post, and see if it’s not there.

The ‘Abiru, iirc, were a nomadic people, and if Abraham is the original one, then that is a designation that came after his leaving Ur of the Chaldees, the area that apparently was his home. After all, didn’t he send his servant to obtain his son’s wife from among his own people?

We’re not using different bibles. We’re probably just looking at different things.

Joseph was born before God gave the Jewish Religious Law to Moses. He is not a religious Jew. I don’t really see any way around that.

Even Paul argues the same when considering Abraham, who, Paul says, was before the giving of the law. Abraham was justified, according to Paul, not by keeping the law, but by faith.

Abraham believed God and that was credited to him as righteousness.

Is that Bishop Usher’s dating or the current year of the conservative Jewish calendar?

No matter how you look at it, 5767 is a very long time.

I didn’t call Jacob (Isreal), or even Joseph, a Jew or Hebrew. Or for that matter a religeous zealot of what is known as the One True God. I just defined that Jacob son of Issac, Son of Abraham, and brother of Esau, also known as Isreal was the Father of Joseph as well as Joseph’s twelve brothers who became the 12 tribes of Isreal.

Yeah, and all scientific advances were due to the religion of Islam,

and the Koran/Quran/Q’ran/acch[flem]ran is a “scientifically proven” “perfect book”.

My point was about why He is portrayed artistically so often as European in appearance.

Since the word Adam means ruddy - to show blood in the face and Adam's genealogy can be traced to Christ there should be no surprise. From Adam to the birth of Christ the Bible describes over and over again the protection of that blood line to Christ... Reason for the flood. Note Judah (Genesis 38) who he married and how it was that Judah thinking he was bedding down with a harlot instead of knowing it was his daughter in law Tamar, continued the blood line. Christ was to be perfect as that final sacrificial lamb for one and all time. And the Old testament traces the Adam his offspring and the other families of this earth they came into contact with up to Christ.

What is rarely discussed is that before Christ came into a flesh body, the House of Jacob/Israel had a civil war. The family became two houses also called House of Israel and House of Judah. The House of Israel consisted of 10 tribes also called 'lost sheep' of the House of Israel, Christ notes them in Matthew 10:5-6 with His first instruction to the 12 disciples. The House of Israel, ten tribes, Ephraim (son of Joseph, and called Ephraim because that was the largest of the ten tribes) were divorced by the Heavenly Father and sent captive unto the Assyrian king. That group in the majority still to this day do not know who they are.

House of Judah, (Judah and Benjamin) (Saul - Paul was of Benjamin - Romans 11:1) were sent into captivity to the king of Babylon, yet it was this group that returned to Jerusalem during Ezra and Nehemiah time and remained there until after Christ earthly time. The tribe of Levi... Moses was the priest line and there would have been some of Levi that went with each of the tribes as that was their duty.

Hebrew is more of a language than a religion. Judaism is a religion and those who practice it are Jews. Just like Islam is the religion and Muslims are those who practice it. Israelite is a member of the nation of Israel, not necessarily a Jew.

Joseph was one of the original 12 tribes of Israel. But his tribe was divided into 2 half tribes after their flight to Egypt. The half tribe of Menasseh and the half tribe of Ephraim. They were his 2 sons and Jacob divided Joseph’s tribe before his death. It couldn’t be more clear that Joseph was dedicated to the God of Israel. In the OT, God refers to Himself as the Father of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; Jacob was Joseph’s father. The 12 tribes of Irael were Hebrews or Jews as we now know them.

Abraham was not the original one he was descendant of the Adam as so noted in Scripture. While the land wherein one is born might make one a citizen of said land does not by nature made them the same race of said land. Abraham was called a Hebrew not a Urmite of the Chaldees or a Canaanite after he was told to leave the land of the Chaldees.

Saul - Paul was from the tribe of Benjamin yet he was a Roman citizen.

Being a Jew, he would have been olive skinned, dark hair and very dark eyes. He was probably very dark skinned due to spending so much time in the sun.

I had to smile, the other day I was reading that part of Genisis and when God told Hagar to go back to Sarai saying

” I will so increase your descendants that they will be too numerous to count..”

The angel of the Lord aslo said to her:

You are now with child and you will have a son.
You shall name him Ishmael.
He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone’s hand against him.

Gen 16:9-12

Oh it has been so true, the Muslims are descendants of Ismael, and they are a contentious lot.

Exactly. The dark leathery look comes from exposure to the scorching middle eastern sun.
