It's even worse in Illinois. The governor and legislature, with the wholehearted support of the Chicago DemonRat machine that's probably in the back pockets of the gangs have effectively made the entire state a "gun free" by refusing to allow any type of concealed carry, even discretionary concealed carry.

Close. Chicago Aldermen (the one group that has almost as many criminal indictments as street gangs) can carry concealed.

Both colleges have a police department, not security guards. Yes, they carry guns.

Arming some of the students is an option, but how would you decide who to select?

Most states already have procedures for "concealed carry" licenses (CCW or CHL). To get one of these usually requires a full personal background check, legal training in the defensive/offensive use of a firearm, and qualifying shooting on a firing range while supervised by a state approved instructor .

Allowing people possessing a CCW/CHL would be an excellent and wise place to start. There are thousands of these "civilians" in every state and most campuses likely already have a goodly number in residence.

“Only immediate solution to a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.
That’s obvious to us, but it would require the (self-appointed) elightened, tolerant, intelligentsia to actually admit that there IS such a concept as good vs. bad, and that one is BETTER than the other... and they just can’t go there.”

In the state of Washington there have been murders on the University of Washington campus. At the present time there is someone attacking students just off campus. So our quite liberal state legistlature is “wrestling with the problem.”

One Republican member is urging that we allow licensed concealed carry on our campuses.

She is opposed by some Democrat who says we “already have too many guns out there,” and she doesn’t want any more.

Guess who will win? Guess what will be tabled? Guess who the media supports?

And finally, what’s happened to the frat rats? When I got out of the military in 1954 I went to the UW. There were some folks from the other side of town who came up to terrorize the co-eds a time or two. The frat rats got organized and took care of business. The bad guys didn’t come back until the ‘60s. Now they run the U District.

A lot of problems would be solved if our young men were men once again.

But they can’t be. The legislature pass laws to prevent hard decisions backed by hard action.

Never heard of a mass shooting at a gun show either.

College administrators certainly care less about student lives than they do about ideological purity.

I bet if a couple of Administrators were the target, things would change.

That graphic would also work with a lot of Stars of David interspersed representing the Jews in the Holocaust who might have survived if they’d owned guns as well.

There is no way that there will be a guard present near every class.

Every building would be a huge start.

What gets me is how so many Jews are involved in the gun control movement. Don’t they know that the first thing Hitler did was confiscate the guns?

Well don’t you know professors don’t care about money. It’s beneath them.

How about we start a list of universities that allow guns. 1) University of Utah 2) other Utah campuses

Guess my Ute bias was showing a little .

You seem to have read the recent pamphlet circulated to the faculty of my university regarding protection from “active shooters”. Basically, the advice to victims is to cower (I am not kidding) and not interfere with response personnel when they arrive.

Assuming you, a victim, is still breathing upon arrival of responders, don’t forget not to bleed on them!

I am a professor and hold a concealed permit for the state of New York. It nearly brought me to tears to read this pamphlet knowing that one place I am barred from protecting myself or others is on my campus. My campus, like the U of Colorado-Colo Springs mentioned in another post, has a very large population of night attendees, too. That adds concern because many students must walk and travel around campus well after dark.

Many campuses tout their “safe environment” but those same campuses now appear quite vulnerable.

The following link tells of an incident comparable to last year's VT tragedy. A few years before the VT tragedy, a renegade student on another Virginia campus was stopped by other students who had locked guns in their vehicles. The other students managed to disarm the renegade student before the police arrived at the scene.

Also, despite our 2nd A. protections, the Swiss have distinguished themselves as leaders in firearms management by successfully integrating firearms into their culture, effectively reducing crime.

Maybe Illinois will start instituting British-style justice, wherein the criminals don’t go to jail and the citizens are arrested if they try to defend themselves (even without guns).

The Police arrive to make a report and draw the chalk outline of the bodies.
Maybe if we ask nicely they'll give us a permit to carry our own chalk, so each of us can have a say over what color his dead body will be outlined with.

Arming some of the students is an option, but how would you decide who to select?

The school could require a special concealed carry permit that is only obtainable after careful training. This would give the instructors time to weed out folks they think are a little TOO eager.
