Lol. No I didn’t take them.

They were taken circa 2000 close to Sarasota. Around Myakka state park, thus ‘it’ has been dubbed the Myakka Skunk Ape.

It looks like a dog to me. What do you think?

“Myakka”

Now I know why George Allen got so much heat for that. It is an insult.

A dog on two feet and with fingers?

Also, look at the reflection of the eyes. It appears that the ‘it’ has a tapetum lucidum which allows it to see alot better at night.

I would guess that the creature is more active at night and that is one of the reasons why it does not get seen as much.

It looks like a hairy lump behind a palmetto and that plant doesn’t get very tall. I don’t see it standing on 2 legs and I don’t see fingers. Maybe your pictures are clearer than mine.

There are lots of feral species in FL. This includes the sainted manatee which should be rounded up and exterminated or shipped off to where they came from, the West Indies.

The Skunk Ape? C’mon...they were scaring us in summer day camp when we would misbehave on field trips that we were going to be left in the woods with the Skunk Ape.

This was in deep south Florida...can’t believe the hype is still going.

I guess this is a bit off topic, but the last jackalope I personally saw was at Little America, Wyoming, off U.S. highway 30, in 1964!

:-)

I had a neighbor in Arizona that shot one, had the trophy mounted on the wall with the empty .308 shell casing on one of the antlers.

I’m surprised no one else has noticed something strange about these photos. They are obviously two different photos with the head in two different positions. Yet there is a strange leaf (or leaves) right across the upper lip of the creature in both photos...the same leaf. Is this thing wearing a leaf mustache or something? What’s the deal?

I noticed the leaf, it obscures the mouth, or if it is a dog, the muzzle.

I am just not inclined to believe in apes living in the Florida swamps that no one has ever seen. I don’t believe that there is a big footed ape living in Oklahoma or the Pacific NW that has never been captured, shot or run over on the highway. I just don’t.
