Don't think it should have passed anyway, but it definitely needs corrections for adult establishments, veterans halls, and private clubs.

Casino down by Kentucky has dropped 24% in business since Jan 1 and they aren't alone.

I just voted.

"Total Votes: 1984"

Probably just a coincidence.

Our county officials are trying to pass a county-wide no smoking ban. Those of us who oppose the ban are evil people. It is a private property concern....not to be mandated by local officicals; causing a big dust-up!

Must be a liberal rag instead of a newspaper. yes-35.2; No-64.8; 2480 votes.

The smoking ban is killing bar and the live music business here in Ohio.

Friggin' smoke Nazis!

Are Democratic voters excluded from smoking bans if they receive their cigarettes in exchange for voting???

“The smoking ban is killing bar and the live music business here in Ohio.”

While smoking itself is killing smokers and non-smokers alike.

That being said, I do not like the government having the power to tell a private business how to run its operations, and what it can an cannot do. I prefer the individual business owner deciding what they want to do with their businesses. I, for one, would regularly patronize a business — especially a bar — that voluntarily issued a no smoking policy.

I have bladder cancer, and from everything I’ve read and have been told, by doctors and therapists and almost every other health care professional, exposure to cigarette smoke is the number one cause of bladder cancer. And, oh, I don’t smoke. And I don’t work around industrial solvents (which is another risk factor, but not as great as smoking).

(looks like a medium volume list) (gordongekko909, founder of the pinglist, stays on the list until his ghost signs up for the list)

Despite being a non-smoker for the past 35 years, I voted yes. I will probably never enter a veterans club, despite being a veteran, but I don’t see it as my business to tell my fellow vets they can’t smoke one if they’ve got one, especially while they are spending time with their brothers and sisters-at-arms.

After I quit smoking in 1989, I would go to the local saloon once in awhile to get a little second hand nicotine.

I was 17, and still in high school the day I found out I could get 5 used paperback books for what my three packs of cigs a day cost. Quit the same day, gave my last pack to my dad. Some addictions are stronger than others, as Bob Heinlein once said.

Poll to FReep for your nanny state list. It’s most of the way down the page on the left.

The information from is anecdotal. Did your doctors point you to research on second hand smoke?
