That’s the first time I saw those pics. When did that happen?

How does a dead body “resign” anything?

His little brother Raulie is gonna be the next honcho. Anyone want to bet how long he’s going to last before someone offs him?

The DU spin cycle is already gearing up:

“How sad it will be for the Miami Cubans when they realize that even without Fidel, the majority of Cubans will NOT want to return to their racist plantation-slavery form of government.”

Fidel’s only saving grace, was that Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot and Ho Chi Min killed more of their populace than he did his own.

He was and still is a miserable wretch, with a one way ticket to hades.

He was the spoiled son of a wealthy Cuban plantation owner who dabbled with Marxist ideology and then lived it out. His “monument” is a dilapidated ruin with year after year negative growth and arguably the most wretched corner of the Western hemisphere.

“Liberating” Cuba was really all about his own narcissism.

My guess is that his own military will be as willing to do it as anyone. I don’t see him lasting that long, but I’ve been wrong before. Good luck to the people of Cuba.

The DUmmies already declaring victory for Fidel’s disastrous economic and social policies:

“Hopefully the U.S. will stay out of Cuba’s business. Long live the Revolution! Capitalism will hurt the environment and the people of Cuba. “ — says the DUmmie “KillCapitalism”

Interesting, but since he made the announcement thru a letter, who knows what state he’s in. He may be mentally out of the loop at this time.

There are those who may claim Fidel was the longest living excommunicated communist leader are there are those who know. And John Kerry was confused once about the name of that Pope. Fidel knows the name of that Pope, Senator Kerry.

Whew! For a moment I thought that you said, "Now I can do something really important, like look at naked pictures of Fidel Castro"...

I agree. I didn’t think the Kim Jong Il would last very long after daddy Kim died, but he’s surprised a lot of people.

Cuba deserves better and could be a paradise nation if they could kick out the Commies.

Too bad I can’t be in Miami the day Fidel finally kicks the bucket. Talk about party-hardy...

I can hear the weeping in Hollywood all the way over hear in the desert?

Sean Penn will wet himself upon hearing this 'tragic' news. He'll have a total meltdown!

My guess is Raoul has a midnight plane on stand by so he can run away to Venezuela.

I posted my comment when the only link offered was a headline on Drudge. I won’t trust Granma farther than I can throw it, with one narrow exception — if they carry a government statement, it’s an authentic government statement. Like Xinhua, or IRNA, or TASS back in the Soviet days.

I couldn’t find the announcement on the international version of the Granma page, and I couldn’t figure out to get to the version offered inside Cuba. But AFP, BBC, CNN, all of whom have a presence inside Cuba, confirm each other’s accounts, so I’m inclined to consider it credible.

See posts 70 and 73.

Granma wouldn’t post ANYTHING negative about dear old Jefe Fidel unless he were already decomposing...

The DUmmies begin to praise Fidel over the truly eeeevil Chimpy McHitler:

“Comparing a true monster like Chimpy to Castro is simply an admission of blind ignorance.”

DUmmies are already praising him as the man who sent doctors to other countries. This was one of the most hilarious programs in history. Fido sent doctors to other places. Trouble was, they didn’t come back. Most made their way to civilized countries, many here to the US.
