This exchange will race through the conservative blogosphere, and probably on the pro-Hillary sites as well. Last night, Chris Matthews interviewed Texas state senator and Barack Obama supporter Kirk Watson as Obama sailed to a crushing victory in Wisconsin. Matthews asked Watson to name any significant legislative accomplishment by Obama, and the campaign surrogate got stumped:
MSNBC's Chris Matthews: "You are a big Barack supporter, right, Senator?"
State Sen. Watson: "I am. Yes, I am."
Matthews: "Well, name some of his legislative accomplishments. No, Senator, I want you to name some of Barack Obama's legislative accomplishments tonight if you can."
State Sen. Watson: "Well, you know, what I will talk about is more about what he is offering the American people right now."
Matthews: "No. No. What has he accomplished, sir? You say you support him. Sir, you have to give me his accomplishments. You've supported him for president. You are on national television. Name his legislative accomplishments, Barack Obama, sir."
State Sen. Watson: "Well, I'm not going to be able to name you specific items of legislative accomplishments."
Matthews: "Can you name any? Can you name anything he's accomplished as a Congressman?"
State Sen. Watson: "No, I'm not going to be able to do that tonight."
Matthews: "Well, that is a problem isn't it?"
It will be in November. Hope and change sound great ... for a while. At some point, the spell breaks, and people wonder how all this hope and change will morph into actual policy, and whether the candidate can actually deliver it. That usually means looking at the record to see how the candidate did so in the past, when they had the opportunity to do so.
Obama simply doesn't have any record to show. He has been in the Senate a grand total of three years, one of which he's spent running for President. He has no record of even attempting to bring any of the themes on which he's running now to the Senate for consideration as actual legislative product. Why didn't he act when he had the chance?
That will be John McCain's argument. He has a long record of taking risks in the Senate and pushing bipartisan solutions to problems. He hasn't just sat around talking about change; he's actually accomplished it, sometimes in directions that angered Republicans then and now. McCain can cast himself as the real agent of change and bipartisanship, while Obama just poses as such for an election without once taking any real risks.
Plus, McCain would probably have smarter surrogates appearing on MS-NBC.
This should be Obama’s theme song.
UTOPIA BLISS!
Sunshine, Lollipops And Rainbows
Lesley Gore
Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows,
Everything that’s wonderful is what I feel when we’re together,
Brighter than a lucky penny,
When you’re near the rain cloud disappears, dear,
And I feel so fine just to know that you are mine.
My life is sunshine, lollipops and rainbows,
That’s how this refrain goes, so come on, join in everybody!
Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows,
Everything that’s wonderful is sure to come your way
When you’re in love to stay.

Brighter than a lucky penny,
When you’re near the rain cloud disappears, dear,
And I feel so fine just to know that you are mine.
My life is sunshine, lollipops and rainbows,
That’s how this refrain goes, so come on, join in everybody!
Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows,
Everything that’s wonderful is sure to come your way
‘Cause you’re in love, you’re in love,
And love is here to stay!
Priceless exchange.
I saw this too. Classic
Though the sad part is that despite the exchange, Chrissy is still gonna vote for Obama.
Kudos to Chris Matthews.
Excellent! We’ve now identified the enemy....let’s all help McCain go kick his ass....
FINALLY sissy chrissy asks an appropriate question...
now as HilLIARy supporters the same thing. Oh and ask her about those silly little RAPE accusations too
> Though the sad part is that despite the exchange, Chrissy is still gonna vote for Obama. <
Are you sure? I’ve never heard about Chris’s having bashed McCain. So I assume he’s a McCain fan, as are most MSMers.
(But then, I haven’t watched his show in years.)
actually I think Chris wants McCain to win
“there he is! Senator mccain! you know you’re in my heart”

Very nice!
Maybe. Though, he does get a thrill up his leg every time he hears Obama speak.
Chrissy is classic liberal and wicked anti-war, I can;t imagine him ever supporting Mccain in a general election
Well Chris, he can speak for over three minutes without spitting...
During the CA primary an obama campaign worker called me because I’m a “Decline to state” voter asking me to consider voting for obama as they were looking for Independents and folks like me saying their primary was open to us.
She was prattling on about what he stands for, change, etc. when I finally got a chance to get a word in I asked her what he’s accomplished.
She started talking about his gatherings with Oprah, traveling around campaigning, etc. I asked her again, “What one thing has he accomplished either for Illinois or the USA while he’s been an elected official?” She couldn’t answer. She had NO answer.
I asked her if she knew what an empty vessel was. I had to explain it to her and then told her that was what described all of the Dem candidates, especially hers.
This election year SUCKS!!!

Obama is a faith healer. Surely, there must be someone somewhere who can cite one of his miracles.
Is it me, or do I detect that the only reason Obama is popular is because too many voters DO NOT WANT HILLARY? I had a discussion with a few of my Democrat friends last evening. All from NY. 3 out of the 4 said Hillary is an opportunist and had done nothing for NY. They would not vote for her. The 4th one was leaning towards Obama but thought that Mc Cain was a good choice too even though he wasn’t a Dem. The other 3 said if it was Hillary vs. Mc Cain, they would vote for Mc Cain. No one wanted to see the Clinton’s back at the White House. They also felt that Obama would eventually lose to Hillary, if he didn’t they’d still go with Mc Cain. I asked if they would vote for Huckabee and they all laughed. So folks here we go again, another election where the choice is who is the lesser of the two evils and a big opportunity for a 3 Party candidate to be the spoiler.
Yes. I've called Obama 'like Carter' too ... but now I realize I should say "WORSE THAN CARTER".
Obama has more extreme views on a number of issues than Carter.
Chris is a Lib. Tip O’Neill/Ted Kennedy lib.
It’s a given he’ll vote Dem as he has always done, although he’s probably more a Hillary/establishment Dem type and so is trotting out the talking points for HRC.
He managed to stop the Clintons from getting to the White House. God works in mysterious ways!!
“Nothing but SILENCE from the resonder for what seemed like an eternity! Finally, instead of listing accomplishments, the responder started off on the Obama campaign promises!”
Identical thing happened on Foxnews. Can’t remember which show I was watching.
