Steven Kazmierczak had been taking three drugs prescribed for him by his psychiatrist, the Northern Illinois University gunman's girlfriend told CNN.
Jessica Baty said Steven Kazmierczak was irritable but not erratic before his shooting rampage.
Jessica Baty said Tuesday that her boyfriend of two years had been taking Xanax, used to treat anxiety, and Ambien, a sleep agent, as well as the antidepressant Prozac.
Baty said the psychiatrist prescribed the medications, a fact that made her so "nervous" that she tried to persuade Kazmierczak to stop taking one of the drugs.

I may have my tinfoil hat on too tight, but it seems to me that a Leftist psychiatrist who wanted an anti-gun “incident”, could create one by adjusting the medication of a gun-owner under his care.
Very cool!
I’m the stuffed head on the wall, Syncro! lol.
I used to do that, too. gave all alcohol up last December 26, and now I can’t sleep more than 2-3hrs at a time. Then, back to sleep for another 2-3.
Funny that I didn’t see you at the “vintage mtgs”...
I use one half of a 0.5 mg Ativan (Lorazepam) tablet when I feel something coming on (usually shakiness and/or flashes appear in my field of vision like the after effects of a camera’s flash). Always heads off the panic attack in about 1/2 an hour.
The key is to always carry the stuff (I photocopy the prescribing doctor’s business card and/or the prescription label they include with the med’s info sheet to keep with the ziplock bag in case I get stopped by the cops and asked) and I keep ziplock bags in my vehicles, at home, backpack, first aid kits, etc. and to use it ONLY WHEN NEEDED.
My sister has had the same panic attack symptoms I had, and was prescribed Xanax and took her dose a couple of times a day and has had problems - her prescribed dose no longer worked and was bothering my mom for her’s when she ran out, etc. So some people (out of stubborness in her case) make their own problems.
Almost ALL these mass killers have been on these drugs and others!! I can’t think of one instance when prescribed drugs have not.
Probably got them with the Prescription Drug Benefit Plan....tax dollars at work, keeping Americans on drugs.
God Bless You, Knarf! You described a teenage boy perfectly!
I raised THREE of them, and survived. You will, too. ;)
Can’t we all just go back to self-medicating with alcohol like our parents did?
The world seems like a much safer place back when Cocktail Parties were in vogue; and those shoes! Those cocktail dresses! Zowie! ;)
That’s the same thing I do. I only take a half of one, a whole one knocks me out, and within twenty minutes to a half hour my heart rate and all else is back to normal. I carry a few in my purse at all times, frankly, just knowing they are there if needed is half the battle sometimes. Like I said, my 30 supply has lasted me six months already.
“The gunman also began stockpiling weapons. He bought a 12-gauge shotgun and Glock 9 mm handgun just a few days before the shooting. He had two other handguns on him during the shootings...”
You call that stockpiling? *SMIRK* (I know, gun-grabbing, agenda-driven reporters.)
I was supposed to be looking at your shoes? ... Sorry, my blood runs red.
She’s ‘Batty” alright. Weird watching this obviously over-weight plain jane telling reporters how NORMAL he was as they run photos of his massive and nutso tatoos he got just weeks before. She’s dating a guy whom she knew had mentally unstable, hospitalized, and still lived with this fruitcake knowing he had GUNS in the house!!!!!!! Sure, doesn’t everyone????? One look at her and then at him with his hedgeclipper haircut and you knew this one was not going to turn out well!!!!!
thanks, bfl
You’re sooooooo right, Diana. It was a better time, “back in the day”.
Red warning flags popping-up all over the place and no one noticed it. The system had everything well-hidden and no one saw it coming. She’s a nutcase, too; you’re right.
The “Prozac Nation” sluggers on...
