America's Most Sinful Cities
Forbes ^ | 2-14-08 | staff

Posted on 02/20/2008 3:32:55 PM PST by dynachrome

They say geography is destiny, but perhaps it is damnation as well.

We have unveiled the American city that has fallen the farthest from grace in each of the seven deadly sins ( lust, gluttony, avarice, sloth, wrath, envy and pride). For each sin we stretched our imagination to find a workable proxy--murder rates for wrath, per capita billionaires for avarice--then culled the available data sources to rank the cities. Some of the results were surprising: Salt Lake City as America's Vainest City. Some were not: Detroit as America's Most Murderous.

To view them on our interactive map, simply click on a cardinal sin, and the 10 worst (or best, depending on your point of view) cities for that particular vice will be displayed.

Dallas’ greed is no lie.

San Antoino has not one, two, or three, but 4 sins. I’m not surprised there either. Look at it’s “diversity”. Close to the border, countless welfare dollars, high crime, and you name it.

I certainly didn’t expect to see Salt Lake City in the top 10 most lustful cities. When did Birmingham, AL drop out of the murder top 10?

I can’t believe New Orleans is not in this grouping. All that sin must have been washed away by Katrina.

Well, having viewed the map and the cities that I am familiar with, this article is like all statistical “top 10” lists, meaningless.

Ann Arbor: The most over-rated Big 10 football city
Indiana: The most Klan-ish state.

Ouch! Ouch! Double Ouch!

It is based on condom sales. The guys in San Francisco probably order them in cases over the internet to avoid sales tax.

Boise & Salt Lake City tied for #5 on lustfull? Don't think so.

San Fran didn’t make the lust list because female contraceptives sales make up 1/3 of the ratings. Gay males and females don’t use them at all.

Contraceptives shouldn’t rank into lust. Condom sales or Playboy magazine sales would be a better measure.

relative to the rest of the country ALL of the cities are Sodom and Gommorah.....

as for Salt Lake City, people constantly associate it with the rest of the ‘red’ state of Utah, but it’s actually a fairly typical left-liberal population of ‘Rats although with a bit of a Utah twist....... the urban core of SLC is highly liberal, always votes for ‘Rats (usually the worst ones), and has little to do with the rest of the state except geographical proximity......

Balt. Philly rank at killing each other, along with Detroit, Newark. See a pattern, all big on gun control and run by the Left. See wrath.
