“Primarying out” incumbents isn’t impossible once their constituency figures out that their representative doesn’t really represent what they believe. I’ve spent the last week on the ground in or near the 14th district, and Ron Paul is in deep trouble, because he is out of step with the deeply-held beliefs of conservative Republicans.

Refusing to debate his primary challenger, after having complained when he himself was excluded, only exacerbates his problems.

I own some rental property down in Friendswood and run down there about once a month.. The last two times I can tell you that, although I did see Paul signs, they were for President and not Congress. They also were not at houses, but on right-a-ways. In front of people’s houses were Peden signs. Chris has been literally hitting the streets, going door to door every day and chatting with people, he is going to softball games, churches, restaurants, wherever real voters are. He isn’t preaching, he is just chatting. Everything is stacked against him, but he is campaigning right- reaching out directly to the people.

EV, you know you’re my boy, but I can’t disagree more on this. If Peden can pull this off I’ll be shocked. I’ve even offered donation-to-FR bets on this race to some freepers, I’m so sure of it. And I’m the first to admit that even though I’m a Paul fan, Peden, on the issues is great. I really hope he can make a name for himself politically in the event that he loses this primary. We need more of his type.

Fred was still on the ticket- that’s who I cast my vote for.

BTW, kudos on this. Must've been nice to leave to leave the clothespin at home.

Chris strikes me as someone who is in the political fight to save our republic for the long haul, notwithstanding the results of any particular election.

Another RP-bot out of CD 14 that can’t vote for him in the congressional race.

My location is irrelevant. Peden doesn't stand a chance. Paul has been through this before - the RINO establishment backs someone against him everytime.

Have fun with that Presidential vote though. :)

Thanks, I will. My write-in vote for Dr. Paul is a middle finger to McCain and the GOP.

What good does a Peden victory do? The Dems will just run a candidate against him and win, while Congress and the GOP loses a distinguished member.

How's Keyes' fundraising doing?

What good does a Peden victory do?

It removes a man whose foreign policy views are dangerous to the republic and to the safety and security of our people, and who doesn't understand the moral basis of our laws, or the unalienable right to life.

The Dems will just run a candidate against him and win, while Congress and the GOP loses a distinguished member.

You really don't have a clue what is happening in the 14th, do you. This race will be decided on March 4th. The Dems haven't even put a candidate up.

Peden is gay.

And you know this from personal experience, I'm sure. ;)

Peden is gay.

That sounds like some of the stupid things Paul supporters have been saying when they call Peden's house in the middle fo the night. Actually, calling him gay is pretty light compared to the stuff Peden and his family have been putting up with from some of the nutcases supporting Paul for president.

Some of the Ron Paul people cannot disassociate themselves from OUR district. Plus, you folks are as clueless about our local politics as you are about Paul's chances of being elected president of the United States.

Ron Paul should have resigned his seat before he ran for president. As should have McCain, Hillary, the Obamanation and the rest of them that held federal office that were running for president. But Ron Paul wanted to have it both ways. Paul has been doing local radio ads where he is so proud that he did not take a pay raise, etc. So what! He is wrong headed about that. HE OWES ME MONEY!

Why? Because typical of Ron Paul he is out to lunch when it comes to doing his damn job! Not only has he not been interested in the district for years (his staff does all the work) he simply has not shown up for work in a long time! At least Peden shows up for the city council meetings. Which is an unpaid job!

Ron Paul has been AWOL! And that what makes me the maddest! That's not the Ron Paul I worked for as a kid when he beat Jim Gammage! Ron Paul respected the people he represented back then. But now all he cares about are the people that worship him. Ron Paul has gone to Ron Paul's head!

Tough luck for you outsiders that don't have a vote in our district. Too damn bad! You can gripe and bitch all you want but it's up to us that live here to pick who we want to represent us.

Ron Paul? You're Fired!

Go Chris go!!!!!

Do you think Paul should debate Peden?

If you can, you should come to HBU tonight (Belen Chapel, 7 pm) and hear Chris Peden, Cynthia Dunbar, and Alan Keyes speak.

I’m the MC. :-)

Here is where the Paulvestite grassroots started passing around his home number, address, and started making plans to ‘step it up a notch’

http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=117704
http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=117204

...also their call to ‘knee cap’ Chris

http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=118091

There are also some threads calling for leaving negative business reviews on his accounting business. You know, Paul’s biggest enemy is his own supporters.

Seems lately a lot of out-of-state Freepers have wanted to comment on the Texas primary, or tell us Texans how we should vote when they don't have the foggiest clue what they are talking about.

Well, it became obvious about six weeks ago that Texas was going to matter.

The GOP hacks, and the Dem Media they’ve stupidly turned the process over to, want the country to believe this is over, but it’s not.

I just read this in a local news article in the 14th- a response by a constituent of his:

"What is there to debate?" Isn't that the proverbial defence of the incumbent? So the incumbent doesn't think there is anything to debate...opponents do. That's why we have elections. Ron Paul seems to be doing a pretty good imitation of Hugo Chavez.

I don’t live in that district, so I really have no dog in the fight, but I’d stick with a man I absolutely know won’t be corrupted.

I live in the district and will vote for Peden.
