WASHINGTON, D.C. -- After Sen. Barack Obama's decisive victory over Sen. Hillary Clinton in Wisconsin, Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland was reported expressing doubt to political colleagues about whether he could hold his state for Clinton during the two weeks remaining before Ohio's Democratic presidential primary March 4.
Polls taken before Wisconsin voted gave Clinton a double-digit lead in Ohio, a state necessary to sustain her presidential hopes. A Clinton win there also may be needed for Strickland's chances to be the vice presidential running mate for either Clinton or Obama.
Prospects for Strickland, a former member of Congress elected as governor in a 2006 landslide, are based on presuming he would help carry pivotal state Ohio for the Democrats. But that argument would be undermined if he cannot deliver for Clinton in the primary.
Hoffa for Obama
The unexpected endorsement of Barack Obama by Teamsters President James Hoffa followed private indications by Bill Clinton that the 19-year federal monitoring of the big union under a court decree would not be ended under a Hillary Clinton presidency.
Hoffa previously had told friends he probably would stay neutral in the presidential race. He changed his mind, according to union sources, partly because of pro-Obama sentiment among rank-and-file Teamsters and partly because of former President Clinton's attitude about the consent decree.
Obama has indicated willingness to end federal oversight of the Teamsters. Refusal by President George W. Bush to do so helped sour his administration's relations with the union.

Looks like Ol’ Bill undermined Hillary yet again on the campaign trail. He does NOT want her to win.
Ah the fresh wind of the new politics of hope and love and peace where the flowers will grow and the birds will sing the song of faith in the new day dawning...
instead of a gender addled race we get a race flamed one
this will be such good wholesome fun
Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland will be on Obama’s short list for VP.
The day after Ohio...will be a fascinating day to watch all of the Hillary-ites...and their shaken belief in her winning. A year ago...she was destined to win with no problems. I think her entire strategy with Iowa....was the first step to show a very poor planned strategy. All of the folks who came in and did this strategy plan....ought to kept out of the next election entirely. The Hillary focus really went downhill after Iowa and never came back to sustain itself. The money spent? Totally wasted. I think alot of folks really soaked her campaign staff funding for cash and never delivered any real work for the amount paid.
She has no HOPE.
you could have said that about the old rag thirty- five years ago.
Didn’t know they’d ever stopped ,”running amok”.
From this account, an Obama administration might look a lot like the U.S. Grant administration.
If/when the Clinton campaign goes up in flames, there’s going to be a lot of stuff written about the turning point of the race, what they did wrong, etc. Other than the fact that she’s a terrible candidate, I believe the turning point occurred during that MSNBC debate last fall when she took that idiotic position on giving drivers’ licenses to illegal aliens.
I always knew the Teamsters were mobbed-up, but I never knew just how much so until I read the book, "I heard You Paint Houses". The book is a biography of hit-man Frank Sheeran who was 'employed' by the Teamsters. Disturbing stuff. "Painting Houses" is a mob euphemisms for a contract killing; this is not a book about home remodeling!
“Looks like Ol Bill undermined Hillary yet again on the campaign trail. He does NOT want her to win.”
I didn’t buy into this argument in the past, but I am starting to think that what you are saying is true.
This must be a real love/hate relationship.
WHY???? Ohio is a MESS!!! A freaking mess!! Cincy is now known as a racist city.
Hillary was simply a bad candidate who had high negatives and was unable to connect with the public.
Strickland makes no secret of his 'sexual orientation' and is the centerpiece of Ohio's new policy of electing liberal pansies to rule them.
