Is there any place left in NYC that isn't next to a Starbucks?

A gunman accosted a man carrying a duffel bag containing nearly $150,000 in broad daylight Friday next to a New York City Starbucks coffee shop, leaving his victim empty-handed and bloodied, WNBC.com reported. Seton Ijams, 50, had just withdrawn the money from a Chase Ban

Can someone withdraw $150K cash on the spot like that? Probably a dumb question, but I deal more in Lincoln's and Hamilton's. :O)

You kidding me?

In Vancouver BC downtown area, I could blindfold you, spin you around, make you point your finger and I’m 99% sure you will be pointing at a Starbucks.

Will the dude who robbed sue Starbucks (because we’re a lawsuit-happy nation now)?

Police said the robber is between 25 and 30, was dressed in a black parka and black pants and is about 5 feet 9 inches tall, WNBC.com reported.

There's something missing from that description, but I can't quite put my finger on it...

Is it common for someone to withdraw $150,000 in cash in NYC? Perhaps he was going to pay off a ransom.... or taking part in some black market transaction.

56th Street and 6th Avenue - right off 57th Street, and a couple of blocks away from some of the swanker areas of Manhattan. It's right by Central Park South, Carnegie Hall, etc.

Something is obviously fishy here.

It is clearly abnormal for someone to withdraw and carry $150,000 in cash from a bank branch. Most bank tellers never see a withdrawal like that in their careers. Very odd.

And the assailant clearly knew who to hit, and when.

The last time a crook fired a handgun on that block in broad daylight was in the 1970s, if ever.

NYC is so safe though because only criminals are allowed to carry guns there.

Police should line up all the tellers and employees of the bank for the victim. See if he can identify the perp. Probably one of them (or one of their close friends or relatives). Somebody knew what was in that bag.

Ironically, had he gone inside and ordered a Grande Latte the end result would have been the same.

If the police do recover the money, he still won’t get it back. It’s called “asset forfeiture”.

I’ve just glad that every time I stroll around NYC with $150K in cash I don’t have such problems..... when I think of all the millions in cash I’ve carried around through the years it’s such a relief to know that I never needed an armored car or any kind of serious protection for it......

The “description” has been sanitized to remain politically correct. Thus the crook may go free, just so that the paper won’t offend a member of a privileged victim class.
Since they left out the race of the crook, we are free to conclude that it wasn’t a White guy.
This is why New York prevents honest people from legally carrying guns - precisely SO THAT the underclass, the “have nots” will take what the “haves” have.

“...Police said the robber is between 25 and 30, was dressed in a black parka and black pants and is about 5 feet 9 inches tall, ...”

Was he black, white, Indian chief, arabian, svengali lion hunter, norseman?

The stupid media is so PC it can’t even describe the perp anymore.

“Calling all squads, be on the lookout for a homo sapien who robbed the 7-11 on Oak Street. He is carrying two arms and walks on two legs. He’s also believed to have a head. He may be dressed in clothes.”

Who is stupid enough to carry around $150,000 in their briefcase in New York City?
