My grandfather passed away on Saturday morning at 96 years old after a five week hospital stay.
Born in Salem, Mass, graduated Boston College with a Masters in Physics and a four year letterman in football (defensive tackle at 175 lbs!) track and basketball....
TOPICS: Miscellaneous
KEYWORDS:
....Lt. in the US Army during WWII with signal corps, stationed in Hawaii. Worked as a chemist and also a nuclear physicist for the Department of Defense on early warning missile detection. Survived by one daughter and two grandsons. Avid golfer and retired in Florida. Annual contributor to charities, and years of "extra service" fixing his daughters house when things were broken. May the Lord receive him with a "well done, good and faithful servant".

My condolences are with you. Please take comfort, though, in the fact that your grandpa was a hero in every sense of the word. 96 years was a good run, and what a life he had — such an accomplished man! Take care, and my prayers are with you and your family.

Thank you for your kind responses. He was very close to my brother and I, attending our sporting events and other important life moments. I lived with him for the last several years.
Extremely selfless and was always fixing things around the house. Friendly and very gentle despite being deaf (w/o hearing aid) for most of his life.
He will be missed.
