Frustrated at the obstacles confronting his investigation of "Spygate," Sen. Arlen Specter accused the New England Patriots of "stonewalling" on Friday and suggested the NFL might never get around to questioning key witness Matt Walsh, a former Patriots video assistant.
Specter's comments are in stark contrast to remarks on Wednesday from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who told reporters that the NFL was moving toward an agreement that would allow Walsh to tell what he knows about the Patriots' spying practices without fear of being sued.

Arlen they used magic again.

My apologies to any insulted monkeys for associating them with congress-critters!
As was stated on The NFL Network, shortly after the story broke, by Chris Collinsworth “The League wants this story to go away, FAST!”.............
What’s more, major league baseball don’t have a media arm like Hollywood to be able to proclaim the entire investigation a “witchhunt” in movies, plays, and books.
The Reds in Hollywood WERE in league with Stalin’s USSR to undermine America. Stuck pig squeals.
I tend to agree with you that there is a cover-up going on? And who else but Congress is going to rat this out? I’m sure the owners want nothing of this. Go Arlen Spector!
Well for Arlen Spector it is.
Wasn’t Arlen going after the NFL network because he gets big bucks from Comcast?
Hey Arlen, pay the $200 and get the NFL Sunday Package. Sit down and shut up.
Specter must have had a big ass bet on that Steelers-Pats championship game years ago.
There are three ways into this for a Senator I can think of off the top of my head: - The teams play in stadiums built with public funds. - FCC: The games are broadcast on public airways, so the games must be fair; much like the Price is Right. - The NFL is a monopoly that has been granted an anti-trust exemption. I am not saying there aren't more important things to do, but there are laws that open the door for legislators. IMO, it is these laws that make the NFL want this to disappear real fast, along with all evidence.
It was the Eagles/Pats.
Perhaps Mr. Spector should also investigate how his home state Steelers ‘won’ their SuperBowl against the Seahawks a couple years back since he’s bored and has nothing else to do.
I agree with you 100%. In fact, when I first heard about this "Spygate" story I wondered why it was such a big deal. I had already ASSUMED that NFL teams engaged in this kind of "cheating" as a matter of course.
I think the real reason the NFL doesn't want this to be investigated is that any investigation will reveal that professional football is much closer to a "staged event" (as opposed to a "competitive sport") than anyone outside the NFL realizes.
Arlen got $110,750 from Comcast. Comcast is a PA company. Comcast does not like the NFL Network..
specter is senile
it is not a matter relevant to the obligations of the us senate
the MAXIMUM effort one in specter’s position could make would be limited to a request that the justice dept look into the matter; IF THERE WAS GROUNDS FOR IT(WHICH LAWS WERE BREACHED) for such an inquiry
like the MLB steroid issue, we have legislators assuming roles of the executive and the judiciary
all they are really after is to create he-said/he-said testimony-under-oath to congress to manufacture a perjury charge where no preceding crime actually exists
Arlen wants to know if it was a single camera or was there another one.
The Pats are really going to miss that 1st round pick that could have gone into a LB that they so badly needed. The taping infraction is going to hurt their ability to compete for the top spot over the next few years.
Article 1, Section 8, Clause 3 of the Constitution, known as the “Commerce Clause” gives Congress power to regulate interstate commerce. The NFL, being an entity that engages in commerce in between states is engaged in interstate commerce, and therefore subject to federal regulation.
I can imagine they’re using the loophole that NFL stadiums were built with public money, and that NFL games go over public airwaves. Or something, I don’t know.
