I believe sincerely the NFL wants this story over because they know that it’s not just the Patriots.

Doesn't Arlen know that this will be unproven by Scottish law standards?

Doesn't this self important coot have some real business to attend to somewhere else in the world?

Hard to believe this man stayed as senator in Pa. and they threw Santorum out.

I just want to know which constitutionally enumerated power allows a United States senator to stick his nose into the business of a football league?

I guess the NFL’s business is more important than illegal immigration, the economy, getting conservatives elected, de-funding berkley, yep prosecuting MLB and NFL players and franchises is another great way to get your picture on TV and waste tax payers hard earned dollars

I have been a Pats fan for 30 years...some bad ones.

Their image is so tarnished right now, only Congress can save them...and they are trying. Thanks.

As to the penalty, Pats fined total $750,000. In Formula 1 racing, Team McLaren was fined $100 million for stealing information from Team Ferrari. There’s a cover up going on, all right.

Gee Arlen, let the courts sort it out and do something useful (or better yet, do nothing harmful).

Impeach professional athletes. They are a menace to this great nation of ours. They dope up on Human Growth Hormone and studying the moves of the opposition.

Protect Hollyweird from investigations into consmetic surgery and rehashing other peoples’ work.

I would like to thank Congress and most especially the Senate, and in particular Arlen Specter, for making this nation a country that has so few problems that we have go after the internal workings of a sports league in order to find any worthy of our attention. No threats from terrorism. No threats from illegal immigration. No threats from government corruption. No threats from foreign sources. No problems with energy or the environment. No problems with taxes. They have truly done an outstanding job!.............

I wish Spector and the rest of the monkeys in the senate would concentrate all their effort on the NFL, that way they'll only destroy the national passtime, as opposed to the country itself. Maybe they could get congress to add their 435 monkeys too!

Mark

My apologies to any insulted monkeys for associating them with congress-critters!

Specter must have had a big ass bet on that Steelers-Pats championship game years ago.

Perhaps Mr. Spector should also investigate how his home state Steelers ‘won’ their SuperBowl against the Seahawks a couple years back since he’s bored and has nothing else to do.

To: Hatteras; All

specter is senile

it is not a matter relevant to the obligations of the us senate

the MAXIMUM effort one in specter’s position could make would be limited to a request that the justice dept look into the matter; IF THERE WAS GROUNDS FOR IT(WHICH LAWS WERE BREACHED) for such an inquiry

like the MLB steroid issue, we have legislators assuming roles of the executive and the judiciary

all they are really after is to create he-said/he-said testimony-under-oath to congress to manufacture a perjury charge where no preceding crime actually exists

It's not the crime so much as it is the cover up.

They never learn.

Way to go, Goodell!

Snort.

While I would like to see the Patriots taken out (Dolphins fan-accepting all forms of pity), I think that they should tell specter to pound it up his %#*. He has much more important things to do than to waste time, resources and tax payer $$ more worthless crap that is NOT the business of the Gov’t.

Why does the NFL need congress involved in this? Do they need to find more sophisticated ways to cheat and not get caught?

Congress can definitely aid in it’s advisory capacity with that.
