No, seriously, we really are.
By Christopher Cook
We Republicans and conservatives have been nervous of late, and rightly so.
First, we had the prospect of Hillary Rodham Clinton, which was unnerving enough. But then, something worse came along: Barack Obama.
Barack Obama is as much of a leftist as HRC, if not more of one. He's as much of a statist as she is.*
But he's more personable, more popular, more friendly, more affable. At least with HRC, we could run against her baggage as well as her positions. We could count on the American people seeing her generally distasteful persona and factoring that into their electoral calculus.
But this Obama fellow is charming, fresh, young, handsome, and he can deliver an inspiring speech.
He's driving crowds wild and raising scads of money.
He is bringing out NEW young and NEW black voters in droves...and new voters are the best kind for a candidate to get.
The media have gone head-over-heels for him, and it's only going to get worse.
Obama is scary. Very scary.
And we can beat him. Possibly even in a landslide.
Obama is a leftist. The American people don't like leftists.
FDR managed to trick the people, because folks didn't know as much about leftism and socialism as we do today.
Truman and LBJ first ascended to power as the result of the death of presidents. LBJ had the added advantage, at least at first, of a particular moment and mood, which helped him win his election. Kennedy ran to the right on several issues, and...

How "original"; how "refreshing".
If Americans don’t like Leftists, how did Bill Clinton get into office and stay there for two terms?
“They beat me like a dog, Mr Wally.”
They do vote, but they also have something called "the dean effect".
Its when your supporters become so emotionally invested, they become obnoxious and either scary or simply drive voters into the arms of the opposing candidate.
The name comes from when Dean ran in 2004, and as soon as his influx of 5,000 volunteers and staff came into the state while he was at his peak, his support started eroding and he started falling apart.
In addition to relinquishing liquid assets in excess of $1M, the Haves will be given 3 years to divest their non-liquid assets to contribute to the funding of these glorious plans.
That's very true. And, Obama is fanning the flames (these fainting stories??, what hookum.) instead of redirecting the enthusiasm.
But...unless kids have radically changed from when I was in college (not all that long ago)....I *do* disagree with the notion that 18-year-olds vote en masse. "What, you mean that I can't cast my vote on Wednesday the 5th?!! LAME!"
I can't speak for all black voters, or all liberal voters, but I can see them burning out quickly. Particularly in the light of the fact that Obama had to peak too early to knock Clinton out of the race.
Correct. However, if the RNC and our complete line of House and Senate candiates attack Obama and his confederates on their pacifist socialist politics and policies, that might turn this Messiah around. The Pubs have to attack all his McGovern policies. He is after all the most liberal Senator according to the National Journal. Forget the change, attack his Messiah like con job. Attack his tax policies, his foreign policy appeasement. And pray that Nader actually can win over a million Dem votes. That too will help defeat this Marxist.
I don't think so, not unless he does something really wrong. I for one feel that the R's have shot themselves in the foot. One to many rinos, I for one will not support or vote for anyone who supports homsexual unions.
One day this kind of article makes me feel better and the next day I think just like you do...lol
One thing that did give me recent ‘hope’ was a conversation I had last week with a liberal friend from college. She brought up the presidential race (I usually try not to discuss politics with her) and asked me what I thought about Obama. I said, “Why do you ask?”
She then proceeded to go on and on about how scared she was of him, etc. etc. and could not believe the Democrats were turning into an Obama cult. I braced myself for what I thought would turn into a campaign speech for Hillary, but much to my surprise, she said she was voting for MCain!
I think there may be many ‘Reagan democrats’ thinking the same thing.
“We’re going to beat Obama”
Who is this “we” that people keep referring to?
Playing this 24/7 as a campaign commercial will sink him.

Like a wall to protect our borders? That kind of wall?
“But even so, the GOP victory this November should be by a comfortable electoral margin.”
On another thread, I’ve been told that McCain is a sure loser.
McCain needs to do two things to win:
1. Nail down his base support
2. Define Obama as the out-of-mainstream left-liberal that he is.
Does both, he wins.
Does neither, he loses.
somewhere in between ... jury is still out.
Of course close the loopholes ... DOH.. my bad.
Dream on. The people who want to vote for Obama are utterly immune to policy debates and discussions of issues.
They will vote for their messiah regardless of what is throw at him.
When is the general public going to wake up and see that the mania is bordering on ridiculous.
“Obama should not be underestimated. BUT - his “supporters”....young people, minorities, the radical left in general....don’t vote. And, it’s hard to maintain this peak that he’s having right now for another 8 months.”
Excuse me, but primary voting on the Democrat side has shattered records! how can you say they are not voting, when in fact someone is voting for Obama (10 million votes).
Obama’s fundraising has shattered records. He is drawing crowds that we wouldnt see until the general election time - if then. What a contrast - 20,000 go to see Obama in Houston, while McCain speaks to a gathering in a hotel ballroom. Nothing wrong with the latter per se, but obama is operating at a different level than other candidates.
If the public perception of Obama in November matches the public perception today ... then Obama wins.
And stick a fork in Hillary, she is done.
