We're going to beat Obama

No, seriously, we really are.
By Christopher Cook
We Republicans and conservatives have been nervous of late, and rightly so.
First, we had the prospect of Hillary Rodham Clinton, which was unnerving enough. But then, something worse came along: Barack Obama.
Barack Obama is as much of a leftist as HRC, if not more of one. He's as much of a statist as she is.*
But he's more personable, more popular, more friendly, more affable. At least with HRC, we could run against her baggage as well as her positions. We could count on the American people seeing her generally distasteful persona and factoring that into their electoral calculus.
But this Obama fellow is charming, fresh, young, handsome, and he can deliver an inspiring speech.
He's driving crowds wild and raising scads of money.
He is bringing out NEW young and NEW black voters in droves...and new voters are the best kind for a candidate to get.
The media have gone head-over-heels for him, and it's only going to get worse.
Obama is scary. Very scary.
And we can beat him. Possibly even in a landslide.
Obama is a leftist. The American people don't like leftists.
FDR managed to trick the people, because folks didn't know as much about leftism and socialism as we do today.
Truman and LBJ first ascended to power as the result of the death of presidents. LBJ had the added advantage, at least at first, of a particular moment and mood, which helped him win his election. Kennedy ran to the right on several issues, and...

what a great deal (sarc)You many not like McCain for whatever reason, but you don't have to worry about McCain making this country more vulnerable to attack by foreign forces because of a milquetoast Intelligence agency and a reduced military.

If Americans dont like Leftists, how did Bill Clinton get into office and stay there for two terms? By running as a DLC centrist, and having the good fortune of Ross Perot siphoning off center/right votes from old, out of touch liberal Republican opponents GHW Bush and Bob Dole.

Correct. However, if the RNC and our complete line of House and Senate candiates attack Obama and his confederates on their pacifist socialist politics and policies, that might turn this Messiah around. The Pubs have to attack all his McGovern policies. He is after all the most liberal Senator according to the National Journal. Forget the change, attack his Messiah like con job. Attack his tax policies, his foreign policy appeasement. And pray that Nader actually can win over a million Dem votes. That too will help defeat this Marxist. This could be a win/win ... running against Obama will be a lot easier in many districts, and can help House and Senate candidates draw a distinction between them and the Democrats, who have moved TOO FAR LEFT.
Consider: You could simply say "I don't support driver's licenses for illegal aliens like Barack Obama does." and you have a contrast drawn. Every Democrat has been running against Bush for a long time ... Bush wont be on the ballot. But Obama will be.

Maybe so, but the odds are much greater this time around that this leftist WILL be elected, since the republicans stupidly put up a short-tempered old fossil as their candidate.

Your fatalistic defeatism aside, the color is all wrong in your graphic. America will be Red (commie-style) if Obamanation happens.

Have you been paying any attention at all to the numbers? Democrats are EXCITED and ENERGIZED about this election. They cannot wait until November. The Republicans are lethargic at best. The conservatives are disappointed and mostly angry with the choice of McCain.
Call it "defeatism" if you wish but the facts are what they are.

But even so, the GOP victory this November should be by a comfortable electoral margin.
As long as we focus, work at it, and get the message out, you are exactly right.

Obama reminds me of Carter in ‘76. He looked awful good at first glance. But, by the time November rolled around it was a toss up election against GOP that was a in a lot worse condition then now. also dukakis in ‘’88. He had a 17 point lead by the time of the conventions. He was creamed. The faster the bubble goes up without anyone getting a god look at the candidate the faster and the further it bursts. His bubble was never really that big and it is already burst as Rasmussen shown McCain with a slight lead.
also Hillary’s strength is with lower income and working class white voters who are less likely to jump on Obama’s bandwagon. Obama’s are afro_Americans and upper class liberal types who almost never vote Republican. As they get a good look at him those wroking class whites are not going to vote for Obama. A ticket of McCain and Pawlenty will sweep to victory and McCain will die of old age and we will have President Pawlenty.

Why should he say anything specific about his policies and plans when hes getting more mileage out of women crying and fainting at his rallies?
Because that's primary stuff. He's got to get specific in the general election.

I believe that is a cogent interpretation, and I share it.
