Two Translators Knock down the Main Evidence against "the Egyptian” Because the Tapes that Incriminate Him "Are Incorrectly Translated"

The main evidence that the Public Ministry had against "the Egyptian" melts down. Not very often it has been possible to see so altered State attorney Olga Sanchez. As much, that [Judge] Bermúdez was forced to switch her microphone off. Following a proposal of the defence attorney, two experts in translations that had access to tapes containing the alleged conversations of Rabei Osman in Italy -where the alleged terrorist attributed the intellectual responsibility of 3/11 was arrested- had declared. Last week already stated an interpreter, -who never had access to tapes but to the [written] translations made in Italy-, that there were "things wrongly translated". This Wednesday the interpreters who have listened to the tapes deny that in them the confession of "the Egyptian" is included.

(Libertad Digital) The 44th session of the trial of 3/11 has declared finished the expert phase and it would have also ended the documentary one if it was not for a last minute surprise. A testimony that altered not only the chronological schedule of the process but also State attorney Olga Sanchez, who showed an uncommon nervousness. The reason, the statements given by two translators proposed by the attorney of Rabei Osman Al Sayed, "the Egyptian", Endika Zulueta. They disagreed with the translations of the alleged conversations intercepted to his defendant in Italy.

And it is that the main evidence that the State Prosecution has against the alleged mastermind of the massacre are tapes recorded in Italy where this one would have attributed himself the intellectual responsibility of the massacre. Then, these interpreters have indicated that the translations of the tapes made by the Italian authorities "suffer from lack of rigour, of accuracy" and included "inadequate interpretations". Their affirmations have been demolishing and with Zulueta’s intervention a dramatic effect was caused. In addition, neither the accusations, nor the prosecutors nor the Lawyers of the State had in their hands this new translation, reason why the court decided to suspend the testimony for some minutes so that they could receive the document.

As Libertad Digital already pointed out last week, one of the translators that declared before the court clarified to the State attorney that he had no access to the tapes, but he had only been able to translate the annotations that the National High Court had given him. Translations made in Italy and where it seems to be the source of the error. This interpreter already specified that he had been forced "to rectify some things that were wrongly translated". This Wednesday, the translators proposed by Zulueta have explained that, obviously, the translations carried out in Spain were incorrect because the ones made by the Italian authorities were already wrong.

The attorney of "the Egyptian" asked the translators for some of the phrases that provided the accusation to his defendant. Specifically, the one in which, according to the Italian authorities, Rabei Osman tells to his alleged disciple Yahia Mawed: "the thread of the Madrid operation was mine". But the translators affirmed that "they have not heard it", that is, it was not said in the conversation. They have not heard either when "the Egyptian" allegedly assured him that it would not matter to him to be a martyr. "There are phrases incorrectly translated and others that directly do not appear". Among the erroneous translations would be a conversation in which allegedly Rabei spoke about "women ready to become martyrs" just calling them. The interpreters clarified that the "speakers are talking about an historical quote of a caliph who aided a Muslim woman that was captive in the Roman Empire", and added that this quote "is recurrent in the Muslim world", that is, the Muslims use it habitually. "Nevertheless, the [Italian] translator did not recognize it and furnished [a new] the context". Moreover, according to the translators and experts in Arab "80 percent [of the translation made by the Italian authorities] is discordant with the content of tapes".

The interpreters explained that the tapes with the telephone and environmental conversations contain a total of 60 hours of recording and that they have listened to them 20 times. They have not cleared the background noises, and they have not wanted either to make interpretations but simply to transcribe literally what in those tapes was said. "the transcription had to be a mere transcription, that is, a literal reflection of which it is listened. But we have found transcriptions that move away from which is listened, and that is caused sometimes because of ignorance of cultured Arab [...] we are speaking of the phase of transcription that is based on dumping, not in fitting interpretations".

The experts attributed these failures to the "lightness and little responsibility of the Italians" that, added, created "a furnishing of a context that really does not exist". They told as example other mistakes committed, such as the translation of a phrase that the Italians interpreted as "it is necessary to enter the rows of Al Qaeda, we cannot remain slept". They indicated that in the original Arab the word "qaidim" is a noun coming from a Quran quote that after evolving is interpreted in the Arab culture as "those who stay seated, those who remain". "Nothing linked to the organization Al Qaeda", they said.

On the Brink of A Nervous Attack

Before this new decline of the official theory, and while Gómez Bermúdez was interested in these new evidences, State attorney Olga Sanchez lost her nerves showy. It is not the first time in these almost four months of trial that the representative of the government has been altered when the declarations of some of the witnesses or experts did not correspond with her theses.

[…]

This Wednesday, the State attorney has been herself overflowed and displaced by this testimony. She has tried to attribute the discrepancies in the translations to differences in the methods. She has even elevated the tone in many of her questions. In one of them, she told the interpreters, talking about his translation: "and his is the adapted one in a terrorism context" [Judge] Bermúdez did not allow it, and was forced to switch her microphone off.

Zulueta is Able to Bring Down the Image of Radical Islamist of His Defendant.
An Italian Police Officer Recognizes that "the Egyptian" Did not Contact any of the 3/11 Defendants.

An exhaustive interrogation carried out the defense attorney of Rabei Osman Al Sayed, aka "Mohamed the Egyptian", to an Italian police inspector that participated in the investigation of his defendant when he was in Italy. Questioned by Endika Zulueta, the officer recognized that since he arrived to Milan in 2004 "the Egyptian" did not try to contact from Italy to any person linked to the attacks of 3/11. Also the lawyer achieved that the Italian police officer recognized that when the presumed mastermind of the attacks talked about "the Tunisian" as "master" he did it in front of the judge -not in a [taped] conversation and because he taught him Spanish. The police inspector admitted that the Italian police did not carry out an investigation on information facilitated by other countries.

LD (Agencies) The defense attorney of Rabei Osman Al Sayed, aka "Mohamed the Egyptian", Endika Zulueta carried out this afternoon an exhaustive interrogation to the police inspector of the Italian General Division of Special Investigations (DIGOS), specialized police division to fight terrorism, to demonstrate the irregularities and gaps in the investigation on their defendant.

Thus, the agent recognized that "the Egyptian" did not try to contact from Italy with any person related to the attacks of Madrid since his arrival to Milan, in February 2004. The witness could only indicate the existence of an unsuccessful call made on April 7th to Fouat El Morabit. At that moment, the defendant was already jailed by his alleged relation with the 3/11 attacks in Madrid.

The police inspector also indicated that they did not detect SMS messages or electronic mails to people in Spain during that period. Zulueta in addition pointed out the lack of confirmation in Italy to the information transferred by the authorities of other countries like Spain, France or the United States. In the case of the Spanish investigations, the attorney emphasized the data about the membership of "Mohamed the Egyptian" to the Islamist Jihad of Egypt or his term in a special prison for crimes related to terrorism. The agent admitted that the Italian police did not carry out an investigation on information given by other countries and it could not confirm these aspects.

The witness confirmed that "the Egyptian" moved to Milan to reside in the house of who was going to be his brother-in-law and who lived in this house of Via Cadore along with two other people of Arab origin that were not linked “with radicalism". He did not leave Milan at any moment since his arrival and maintained a routine life with few relations with other people. Thus, the Division indicated that albeit his work of indoctrination of the young Yahia, by which he has been convicted in Italy, they cannot assure that Osman El Sayed was dedicated to prepare muhaydines to be sent to Iraq.

Zulueta insisted on the lack of resources of his defendant and asked the Italian police officer on the amount of money that was seized at the moment of his arrest. The agent admitted that he had little money, (less than two euros). The lawyer also asked for qualification of "master" which, according to the police witness, "the Egyptian" would have used in the a conversation talking about "the Tunisian", one of the persons that died at Leganés. The police inspector had to admit that, that qualification was used by the defendant only before the Italian judge and to explain that "the Tunisian" taught him Spanish.

The attorney of "Mohamed the Egyptian" inquired on the authorizations with which counted the Division to eavesdropping and insisted on the possible lack of permission to accede to the home in order to place the microphones. The officer responded that the judge in charge of the case admitted “environmental” listening in which it is implicit the access to the house. He explained that the methods used to introduce one in the homes are varied and that in most of the occasions a copy of the accessing key is obtained.

On an annotation that allegedly would have made "the Egyptian" in which it was said "11-03-04 shahid miel", the police officer said that it is not possible to credit that it was his or that it had been written by him.

Pure fantasy

Regarding the credibility of the statements made by "Mohamed the Egyptian" in his telephone or environmental conversations in relation to his participation in the 3/11 attacks, Zulueta asked on the existence of contrast about them and the reasons for not to describe them as "pure fantasy".

"For my Rabei Osman is a very credible person", assured the witness. The attorney showed several examples of stories told by his client to his disciple Yahia and demanded the police officer an explanation on the possibility that these were true or false.

Thus he explained that he told Yahia that in Spain he earned 2,000 euros monthly and even there were days in which it obtained 1,000 euros daily. He also told him that he had a system by which he was able to change his fingerprints when he wanted it or that he had a friend in Holland that had managed to damage all the computers in the world. Regarding the "mortal hair dryer" with which he was able to kill anyone solely orienting the air flux towards him, Zulueta asked if some similar device in the search was found. The agent denied that in the search anything similar was located.

By J Aguilar,

Rabei Osman, the Egyptian, a man portrayed for three and a half years by the security forces and the media as the mastermind of 3/11 turns to be a broke big mouth with mental limitations that boasted before probably the only one that listened to him that he had known in Madrid some of the identified as perpetrators of the attack, filling the gaps with pure fantasy.

He well summarizes the paradigm of the entire official version of the Madrid atrocity.

Finally, both in Italy and Spain, he was acquitted of being a mastermind of anything. He is serving a six year sentence for his indoctrination job to Yahia.

The whereabouts of the “atomic” hair dryer are still undisclosed.

State attorney Olga “Valeyá” Sanchez has been promoted to the Supreme Court, a reward for her services, indeed.

The 3/11 case remains without mastermind.

It is interesting to check that the alleged mastermind of 3/11 came from Italy in a “pack” along with incorrectly translated tapes and a police officer from the antiterrorist unit prepared to declare that it was all OK… when it wasn’t.

Of course, the Western public opinion cannot discuss over tapes in cultured Arab, so who was going to know it? Because I have seen too many things to believe in the incompetence theory.

It is also interesting that the mastermind+accessories pack came from a country that during almost fifteen years was shattered by terrific indiscriminate terror attacks, as it is to check that one of those attacks is very similar to the Madrid atrocity, a bombing on a crowed train station: the Bologna massacre [1], which happened on August 2nd, 1980; killing 85 people and wounding 200.

Eight years later, two neofascist terrorists and three members of the Italian military secret service, along puppet master Gelli –this one being a truly master- were convicted, the firsts as perpetrators and the second ones for “slandering the investigation” of the attack [1].

The way used to the last purpose was to leave on a train a travel bag containing the same explosives that were used in Bologna –a military mixture of TNT and T4- along with documents pointing at two foreign terrorists [2].

Coincidentally, the entire official version of the Madrid’s atrocity –now left without mastermind- is based on a travel bag found hours after the attack, in a police precinct, containing evidence that led to the swift arrest of a two Moroccans in time to change the result of the last Spanish National Elections.

Striking coincidences, aren’t they?

Moreover, if we zoom out from Bologna and contemplate the years of the Strategy of Tension in Italy from beginning to end, we will find more data that fits remarkably not only in 3/11, but also in other events that happened in Spain.

We have in Italy in 1964, for instance, a Colonel named Renzo Rocca, chief of the economic division of the military secret service, that after, well, protecting the old Italian oligopolies in a quite –should I say daring?- way [3], went to work to the Fiat automaker in Turin.

Well, Jorge Dezcallar, the chief of the Spanish Secret Services during 3/11 now is working for the oil company REPSOL –the heir company of the State monopoly-, after the Zapatero government allowed La Caixa –a bank controlled by the Catalonian oligarchy- to take over the company. They already enjoy a dominant position in Spain in Natural Gas.

Guess who we will find if we talk about Electricity in Spain?

Of course, the Catalonian oligarchy trying to take over Spanish formerly State-owned ENDESA, paying in shares at a price of 20.50 euros per share. Guess who came to lend a helping hand when a German competitor offered 40 euros per share in cash? ENEL, the Italian de-facto monopoly of electricity.

It is really extraordinary, such coincidences.

Leaving the economic side of the coup and entering into the perpetration details we have even more concurrences. The beginning of the Italian Strategy of Tension, rigorously, happened on December 12th 1969, in the Piazza Fontana bombing in Milan, yes, Milan. That operation, although carried out by neofascists, was blamed on anarchists by intelligence networks. It is what is known as a false flag operation:

False flag operations are covert operations conducted by governments, corporations, or other organizations, which are designed to appear as if they are being carried out by other entities.

However, although the first attack was carried out in Italy, the idea of perpetrating such cover attacks with political ends was French, according to the prosecutors of Milan [3]:

According to Salvini, the real "mind" behind the attacks was Guerin Serac, a former OAS member who was running the Aginter Press, a center of logistical support to neo-fascist groups throughout Europe. It was Serac who had developed the strategy of "creating false groups of the extreme left, and infiltrating existing ones, in order to place on them the responsibility for terrorist actions, provoking the intervention of the Armed Forces and excluding the Communist Party from any significant influence on Italian political life."

Serac, a "Catholic" fascist, had participated in the French colonial intervention in 1956 in Suez, in alliance with Britain and Israel, against Egyptian leader Nasser's decision to nationalize the canal. The allied colonial forces were humiliated by U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower, who ordered them to cease the intervention and go home.

Thus, the idea of conducting a false flag operation in order to blame the Spanish right wing Popular Party for the, in this case, Islamic violence because the participation of Spain in the occupation of Iraq, is not new, but and adaptation to the post cold war era of the one conceived by Yves Guerin Serac and already applied in Italy.

However, the Spanish Strategist of Tension dropped this tactic precisely when the right wing Popular Party won the Local and Regional Elections on May 27th, 2007, and when the behaviour of the Spanish Security Services had already begun to be questioned despite the efforts to keep the public opinion polarized between Al Qaeda and ETA.

In those efforts, it cannot be excluded either the application of the perpetrator principle, developed by the Eastern German Stasi, according to the Wall Street Journal [5]:

About 1980 the Stasi also proposed a second strategy: instead of using a terrorist group directly -- such cooperation always contained risk of discovery -- they could simply execute attacks so similar to those of known terrorists that police would never look for a second set of suspects, according to Wartin records. The Wartin leadership called this strategy the "perpetrator principle," according to Stasi records. The unit's progress in implementing the steps to imitate terrorist attacks is described in a series of progress reports by Wartin officials between 1980 and 1987.

That is, it is probable that the devices used in 3/11 had all the characteristics of ETA’s ones… but no one could ever find a member of ETA without alibi for that day, so caught in a trap conformed by the Hegelian dialectic (Al Qaeda or ETA) we could not see out of the box and discover who was pulling the strings.

Until a man with a huge common sense, named Luis del Pino, came and taught us through Internet, because there is no media in Spain that dares to print this.

The application of the perpetrator principle has further advantages. ETA having committed 3/11 would have given birth to the strongest right wing government in Europe since Margaret Thatcher’s after the Falklands war. Therefore, if many modest Spaniards were terrified for what had happened at Atocha and neighbouring stations, more terrified were some high rank officers in the administration, security forces, big corporations, trade unions, etc. about a right wing government with support to conduct deep reforms: the cover-up operation, as in Bologne, not directly linked to the perpetrators, had begun.

It was a well conceived plan indeed, it wasn’t necessary a big coordination but only to terrorize regular citizens with Al Qaeda, and, which is more important, the establishment –Spanish and foreign-European- with ETA, then wait until the last ones had no other chance but to join the coup, no matter how big the atrocity was, or face a powerful relatively pro-Freedom government.

They made their choice.

It’s scary how incompetent people become when their intrigues are revealed. Not one, but two governments can’t doctor up a convincing confession? So much for al Qaeda as suspects. And if J. Aguilar is right, the case for ETA is a smokescreen as well. As a Russian friend of mine once told me, there is the given truth, then there’s a concealed truth, then there’s the truth beyond that and a truth beyond that...

Indeed. Firstly because plots like this are divided in layers or compartments, therefore if one is lost (the investigators break in), the others stay well covered-up.

Secondly, when something is known, it is usually indirectly, by people with their own agenda, who usually focus in some aspects, leaving others.

In the case of Italy, Claudio Celani praises the Pellegrino Parliamentary commission for its investigations, however, the association of victims of the Bologna massacre criticizes it: probably the parliamentary commission made some advances in the investigation, but not enough.

However, IMHO, this article follows a different goal. It is not about assigning individual responsibilities or fitting details, but to show the general philosophy, the probable way of thinking the conspirers had and have.

I mean, in everyday's world you need to prove things in order to get Justice; however, in the world of intelligence, deception and disinformation, it is enough for you to know and maybe even just to suspect what is going on, in order to counteract the enemy's movements.
