"I absolutely repudiate such comments and again, I will take responsibility," he said, calling the use of Obama's middle name inappropriate. "It will never happen again. It will never happen again."

Actually, I agree with McCain on this. To stoop to such tactics will only work against him. There is a difference between tough politics and gutter politics.

"gutter politics"

But gutter politics is so much more entertaining.

Break out the negative ads and popcorn!

Stoop to what tactics? McCain didn’t say it, and he wasn’t even there at the time. All he needed to say was, “I wasn’t here, I didn’t say it, I didn’t hear it. Go talk to the guy who said it. And btw, isn’t his name Hussein?”

Instead, McCain apologized for something he didn’t even say. And the apology, rather than Cunningham’s statements, is the news. The average sheeple who kinda sorta half pay attention to the news are only going to hear that McCain apologized. They will assume from that that McCain did something wrong.

McCain needs to sharpen up his act and campaign smarter, or Obama will bury him in November.

But he has no problem yelling profanities at Republican Senators. The guy's a hypocrite.

If he doesn’t like his freaking name he should change it or drop it. It is his name. I heard after mccain apologized, Cunningham said he would for for hilary. I guess you are vomting for barry hussein obama.

Agreed. Interesting how some FReepers don’t bother to read and comprehend what McCain is objecting to without piling on. It is shallow dirty politics to emphasize Obama’s middle name. We don’t need to resort to such lame tactics like that. It shouldn’t even be necessary because Obama is an empty suit anyway.

Absolutely. But you'll get neither from McCain in reference to his "good friends" across the aisle. He'll save his toughest and most scornful remarks for those he does not consider friends. That would be those narrow minded conservatives whose support he obviously believes he does not need.
