McCain Apologizes for Radio Host’s Obama Comments at Rally
AP ^ | 2/27/08 | fox news

John McCain apologized Tuesday for disparaging comments about Barack Obama made by talk radio host Bill Cunningham at a McCain campaign rally in Cincinnati. Cunningham, a radio host at WLW-AM, had warmed up the crowd at Memorial Hall with comments about Obama and Hillary Clinton, likening Obama to a “hack, Chicago-style” politician and saying the Illinois senator would “saddle up next to Hezbollah,” Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and North Korean leader Kim Jong Il if elected president. When McCain addressed the crowd, he apologized for the remarks. “I regret any comments that may be made about these two individuals (Obama and Clinton) who are honorable Americans,” he said. “We just have strong philosophical differences, and so I want to disassociate myself from any disparaging remarks that may have been said about them.”

Once again, McCain offends the Conservative base to cozy up to the Left. This Senator is either too arrogant or ignorant in believing that Conservative votes don’t matter.

Isn’t this the same “principled” McCain who had no problem telling an outright lie about Romney during the Florida primary?

Yep, it certainly is. McCain believes it is okay to lie and badmouth conservatives, but it isn't okay to get tough on Democrats.

Well, it's either that, or he is getting Alzheimers's, which is also a big possibility.

If he's elected, whose ass will he kiss the longest and hardest - Teddy Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, or Harry Reid?

Not to mention all the foreign butts to be smooched. This country is soon to become leaderless, no matter who is elected.

Attacking Obama directly by the candidate failed Hillary. I do not understand why so many here think it will suddenly work for McCain, and why they are so irate that he will not do so.

McCain is smarter on this than they give him credit for.

IMHO, McCain, hwid*, is already employing a strategy to defeat Obama in November.

Obama’s middle name and Muslim roots will get enough coverage that there will not be one voter in the United States who will not be completely aware of it.

With so much else upon which to attack Obama, why would McCain resort to that type of innuendo? It only makes him look petty and small-minded.

There are sharp distinctions between Obama and McCain that McCain should focus on - it should be beneath his campaign to play this card. Make no mistake; others will play it for him.

For McCain to play it smacks of desperation, and it will backfire on him. He has enough winning issues v. Obama - he doesn’t need to open himself up to racism and bigotry charges.

The head of the ticket should point out Obama’s many failings - his middle name not being one of them.

*he whom I despise

Maybe but McCain don’t have to apologize!
It is after all the real name of OUSBAMA and it says something on the link of OBAMA with islam...
He just received the support of “the nation of islam” by L.FARA KHAN...

So NAIL IT !
It matters a lot

Let the GOP hacks spin away.

As we get to November they will have McCain cast as
a Savior of conservative values - closer to the
founding fathers than Sam Adams-

I have looked at his record and only an idiot liberal could support this man based on his record. The wisdom of the Bible: By their ACTIONS you shall know them.

"McCain is smarter on this than they give him credit for."

Smart? No, it's just a habit he has - can't offend any democRATs, they might not like me!

He's blatantly flipping conservatives the bird.

He's saying "You guys can go to hell, liberals and blind republicans will put me in office!"

I'll be flipping HIM the bird in November!

Way to fire up the Conservative base, John, by pulling the rug out from a popular Conservative radio talk show host and "disassociating" yourself from his truthful remarks that were designed to fire up the crowd. Instead, you go and dump a bucket of cold water on them.

The GOP is so screwed in this upcoming election, if THIS is how McCain is going to campaign again either Obama or Hillary (if she steals the Rat nomination), by defending them, while disowning his supporters.

Who's gonna want to open for McCain now at his appearances, if they know he might stab THEM in the back like he did Bill Cunningham.

Who is McCain’s campaign manager - Emily Post?

His panty waist, Little Lord Flauntleroy demeanor is already unbearable and we still have 8 months to go.

This idiot is going to bring on the biggest Republican defeat in modern history.

No, he's not. He's just an arrogant, nasty old man who'd rather attack his own supporters than go after the Rats.

Count on it! (Hillary at least.)

We can hang the next 4 sorry years on the rats instead of a rat from our own party.

McCain is consistently a RINO. Ann Coulter is consistently right.
