LET'S TAX THOSE OIL COMPANIES (Government theft)
NEALZ NUZE ^ | Thursday, February 28, 2008 | NEAL BOORTZ

Posted on 02/28/2008 6:58:14 AM PST by Turret Gunner A20

Nancy Pelosi is pushing a proposal through the congress to seize an additional $18 billion dollars in oil company revenues for the government. One of the things this sickening leftist wants to spend that money on is "alternative energy sources."

Let me just take a moment out of your busy day here to tell you how this "government spending oil company money on alternative energy sources" thing works.

Instead of the oil companies – who actually have some expertise in these matters – spending their profits on research and development of alternative energy, the money will be placed into the hands of politicians. This money will then be handed out on the basis of political considerations. Congressman X is in trouble next year, so let's spend some money in his district on some alternative energy plan. Congressman Y cooperated with Congressman Z on some legislation last year, so let's reward Congressman Y with a nice little earmark for some energy company in his district.

In short .. the money will be passed out based on political considerations rather than being spent by those businesses most able to accomplish the desired goals.

Did the oil companies stand with us when Bush asked things of them, for the war and for the national security side of energy independence. They did not. They said "never happen", laughed, and gave themselves 8 figure bonuses.

So they can pound sound. I for one will not lift a single typing finger in their defense.

well hopefully our man in the white house will veto it. If he doesn’t well he’ll have completely lost my support and he’s on a thin rope as it is.

Fine then why don’t you buy gas from Citgo or enjoy paying 6 dollar a gallon gas prices. Frankly with the political climate energy independence is impossible they were right.

Do you think those oil companies (or any other corporation) pays taxes without passing the full amount on to consumers?

They started drilling right after we opened ANWR, Florida and the pacific coasts.

Oh wait...

In 2007 ExxonMobil made $40.6 Billion in Profit. That is keeping ~10¢ on the dollar as profit.

They paid $105.7 Billion in Taxes.

Income Taxes - $29.9B
Sales Based Taxes - $31.7B
All Other Taxes - $44.1B
Total Taxes - $105.7 Billion

Let them pass them on. What do I care?

When the oil execs discover that they must ally with me and show it, then and only then will I lift a finger for them. Until then, they can be taxed until they bleed buttermilk, they can pass it on to working saps all over, who can gloriously vote for Obama in their hissyfits. I'll be fine regardless, I assure you.

And they invested?

And they gave to republicans?

And they cooperated with Bush's call for a reduction in reliance on imports by laughing and saying "never happen".

They can pay another $40 billion a year in taxes. Heck, they can pay a $400 billion capital levy paid in shares. Screw 'em.

While I share you concerns, the point here is that Botox Nan is calling all of her San Franfreako friends and family members to incorporate alternative energy start-ups so she can line her pockets with the oil companies profits. Don’t think for a second that she intends to accomplich anything meaningful on behalf of U.S. citizens. It’s a money grab pure and simple.

Consumption, on my part anyway, is completely voluntary.

I'm not poor. I don't bow and scrape to jackbacksides who ridicule our country and side with foreign oil producers to undermine it, to save $20 a month.

I'll move to a warmer climate and spend more time hiking and less working, save more and consume less, makes no difference to my happiness.

They can pound sand.

Fine, she and her minions couldn't pick a more upstanding class of useless sacks of it to grab from. Let 'em grab.

When the left smeared out of political existence patriots actually willing to defend capitalism, heck willing to take a bullet to keep Iraq open for business, they did nothing. They can feel the favor returned.

They are the political climate. Their "never happen", why work with Bush, ha ha ha, let's ally with the house of Saud and give ourselves 8 figure bonuses instead, and invest nothing to keep supplies tight, was and is the political climate. Which is unbriddled treason for selfish ends, everywhere you look. Partisan ones, material ones, ideological ones.

Some are better than others. Conoco actually used high prices to look for more oil. Exxon used high prices to raise dividends, fund share repurchases, get capital to exit the industry, and pay themselves fat bonuses. Then if Dubai buys the entire American banking system, it'll be great.

The latter are not Americans, in my book. They are predatory agents of a foreign cartel, a wholly owned OPEC subsidiary, who think they never had it so good and don't give a lick what it does to the power of the United States, or whether it funds Iran and Russia. They are my enemies by their actions, and I won't lift a finger to save a hair on their heads.

This could be filed under the “Stupid” article above,

Seriously though, Democrat=Liberal=Socialist=Communist. They do indeed want to steal-and-distribute.

You ever lift a finger in my defense? My economic rights or my security interests? Did Exxon in the last 7 years?

I'm a free political actor. I can see who my allies are, and who behaves as an enemy who doesn't give a damn about this country.

Use your capital unwisely, don't lift a finger yourself to deal with the left? - then don't come crying to me for protection.
