I felt after I posted that perhaps I was too flip in my response.
Legitimate self-defense is entirely consistent with being a Christian. This extends to legitimately defending others.
While I recognize the thought and good will that went into your hypotheticals, I cannot accept your underlying premise that the immediate posture/activities of the victim or perpetrators should be a motivating factor in the defense decision.
Being saved is (usually) a lifelong occupation (Philippians 2:12), not a one time event.
The test you suggest reminds me of Hamlet refusing to take his revenge on Cornelius, his father's murder because Cornelius was praying when Hamlet had the opportunity.
I believe it. Actually, I remember a report (I think John Stossel did it) that said that a given % (large number) prisoners busted with guns had stolen guns (did not say whether they stole or someone else did).
What I find funny is that they tell you not use a gun because it could be used against you but to use keys, rat tail, nail file, etc. which evidently they won’t use against you.
Something I find funny is that antis say not to use a gun because you will just piss the attacker off, but using keys/nail file/rat tail or gouging eyes/kicking groin/etc. will not.
Was that her name?
