I’d say so!! On the one hand, you want to say the father overreacted and should be charged and tried. On the other hand, the jerk (sic) motorcyclist had had some sort of verbal altercation with the girls at the shoppind center parking lot and had FOLLOWED THEM HOME! That’s tantamount to stalking, in fact it IS stalking! Then, instead of driving off into the res tof his life, he ended it by turning around and going back past the house in an act of defiance. Now, one can certainly argue that he “didn’t deserve to get shot and killed”. I would argue that he frightened the girls and that, now knowing where they lived, he could return anytime and kill them, rape them or who knows what.

IMO he wanted insurance details, to which he was entitled.
The Shooter should get life.

Well, I don’t know the circumstances, so I won’t pass judgment, but I had someone follow me home one night when I got off of work at midnight. I lived in a fairly rural area and the guy kept tailgating me. I pulled over to let him pass me and he stopped. I hurried on and he kept right behind me. This went on for miles. I was terrified.
I was too stupid to think of driving right to the police, but instead drove to my apartment. He blocked my car so I could not get out. I locked all the doors and laid on the horn until the apartment manager came out and called the police. He took off. This was before we all had cell phones. I was shook to the core.

FOLLOWED THEM HOME! Thats tantamount to stalking, in fact it IS stalking! and in this case 'suicidal'....I don't have good thoughts about his 'beneficiaries' collecting on his life insurance policy. Regardless of the outcome of the 'criminal trial' above, the ensuing civil trial where beneficiaries try to collect, stalker's insurance company has a case not to pay!
