I do not understand the fascination with this show. Yes, the concept and some of the storylines are interesting and at times compeling, but the actual writing/dialogue is formulaic, the characters one-dimensional and predictable (mostly by their ethnicity), the production often Gilligan’s Island quality, there plot gaps (not the good kind) you can drive a truck through, poor editing (sweat stains in one scene, not in the next), etc. This is not within light years of a Sopranos, The Wire, and many other shows.p>Perhaps but sure beats the hell out of "24". there are only so many times the world can be on the brink of destruction. "24" does it every season. Boring. I watched the first two season and then quit.

"I really don’t care for the shows you mentioned, why did you have to come and spoil our thread?"

Are you serious? No room for debate or dissenting opinions? I'm sorry, is this a global warming thread?

Gilligan’s Island? This show is to Gilligan’s Island what David Kucinich is to Ronald Reagan.

I took a quick read and found it most entertaining. I caught the last few minutes of LOST last night but DVR'd it so I hope to watch tonight.

Oh, “Lost” will probably run for thirteen years and then end with a little autistic kid sitting in the living room floor, shaking a little snow globe with a plastic island inside it. The characters at that time will suddenly realize it is snowing, then the camera will fade to the autistic kid shaking the snowglobe. . . . or else,

suddenly, after fourteen years, the camera will pan away from the island to a huge brick building and then to a big sign out front that reads “L.O.S.T. Psychiatric Hospital” and then it will go inside where the island characters will have been transformed into patients and psychiatrists and nurses due for their next doses of tranquilizers . .

or fifteen years from now, Victoria Principal and Patrick Duffy with Bob Newhart as well will be the guest actors on the island and will suddenly wake up and realize they had been dreaming all this all along.

I haven’t watched much since the first season - did they ever explain what the “monster” was they were running from in the beginning?

“JERICHO” is also a good one which challenges the mind as to what’s going on and how to organize what’s left of the country.

I tried watching it a few shows into the first season but it felt like homework and I gave up. Can you just cut to the chase, boil this theory down to a paragraph, and tell the rest of us what the deal is so we can stop thinking about it?

Thank you.

How many more times does this have to happen on this show:

Have you watched it from the beginning???????

I love it, and it’s something that my 13 year old son can also watch. He wouldn’t be able to watch The Soprano’s because of the language and sex.

Plus, I just like sci-fi any day over a mafia story.

The characters are not one-dimensional. Many of the characters are gray, even Ben the main bad guy. I love gray characters.

They say that they are only doing 60 more episodes, and it will be over. Since they made that announcement, the show has been awesome. I think this season is my favorite.

Nope, it’s scheduled to end in 2010, they have a definite end date, this show is like no other, the theory is already winding down, no go on forever and ever, this show is truly innovative. The end of the show is scheduled already.

I don’t think Jericho is anything like lost. I think the acting and writing are much better on lost. I also cannot stand the direction Jericho is going with right-wing conservatives that started the nuclear war in order to take over the country.

Lost cannot be boiled down to a paragraph. It is way too complex.

It’s not a simple show. It’s not for some (my parents would hate it), but others love the complexity of the show.
