Doors uncovered
Two days after the attack, racial graffiti was spray-painted on the garage doors of the house the couple has been building since 2005, when a fire destroyed their previous home. In January, KSKY/660 AM radio host Mike Gallagher helped raise $4,000 to replace the doors. Gamble picked up the new doors last week, according to Gallagher.
The vandalized doors have not been replaced, but a blue tarp covers the racial slurs.
Haynes announced Friday that the doors were being uncovered so the "world would see that racism exists in Arlington."
"Racism in Arlington has been exposed," he said. Supporters were encouraged to visit the home before they left the rally.
No suspects have been identified in connection with the vandalism.

“My elderly inlaws live in Arlington, what area is affected?
Going by the high cultured and high caliber this couple seem ed to be I would guess East Arlington or around that not of hell hole apratments arounf Washington and Collins in North Arlington. But a 4,700+ s.f. house in those areas? Must be one of those getting to much house McMansion soon to be foreclosed people.”
Oh boy! Oh boy! See what happens when you are at work for Holy Cow! I have been here for 13 hours! Stupid backups, hurry up!
That would be:
Going by the high cultured and high caliber this couple seemed to be I would guess East Arlington or around that knot of hell hole apartments around Washington and Collins in North Arlington.
“My last question - these folks don’t seem to be locals...did they move there from N.O? Houston?”
Not for sure, but there are plenty of people like this in DFW. This is nothing on what goes on in Dallas.
I really feel for this neighborhood. The surrounding neighbors are the ones who are the real victims of this senseless spectacle. I pray that something like this never happens in my uncontentious and homogenous neighborhhod.
Ping.
Hey! Someone looked at me funny the other day! It's because I'm German-American, I know. I demand reparations! I demand that the City of Arlington give me a jillion dollars, pay my library fines, and send a fella around to detail my car every Thursday.
And a cake. I want a delicious cake.
Was für Quatsch is das....
And I can't understand why one of their 'demands' wasn't a FREE Bentley from the city. Forget that the police and city has done everything they're supposed to, they've been done wrong dammit and they want that Golden Ring, they hit the Jackpot baby!
Gamble said his wife has lost hearing since the attack. He has also said their house is in foreclosure because he has not been able to work while caring for her.
The article called him her fiancee but in this paragraph the reporter calls her his wife. Which?
This scam will fall apart as Freepers and others dig out the facts about these people.
I expect some trouble here in the small town where I live in NC.
A movie is about to be made of a book that deals with a racial killing and the aftermath.
Thanks Al and Tawana.
Don’t forget to ask Mr. Jerry Jones for free prime Season Tickets and waive the $14,000 - $160,000 Seat License fee at Jerry’s Palace.
Ah, the Jerrydome. Zillions for a convertible-roof stadium, not one cent for a city bus so that people can get to work. That’s the voters of Arlington for you!
Well at the very least and rummored the TRE will have a leg down to the stadium area. Of course taking it down Hwy 360 to I-20 or even all the way to Hwy 287 would be a grand start.
The problem with buses and Arlington, is how do you put a Bus System together there and be efficient with it? There is no mass amount of people wanting to go from Point A to Point B. Everybody wants to go from A.1, A.2 or A.3 to B.1, Z.2 or H.1. The zoning ordinances the past thirty years of this region have been horrible. They have created huge housing additions with industrial and commercial district thrown all over. Built specifically for automobile transportation.
Why would a government entity need to provide a park? We have enough handouts as it is... People should provide their own lawns.
Why would a government entity need to provide a library? We have enough handouts as it is... People should provide their own books.
Why would a government entity need to provide paved streets? We have enough handouts as it is... People should grade and pave their own streets.
Why would a government entity need to provide a fire department? We have enough handouts as it is... People should provide their own fire extinguishers.
Why would a government entity need to provide a lake? We have enough handouts as it is... People should provide their own lakes.
Why would a government entity need to provide drainage? We have enough handouts as it is... People should provide their own drainage.
Why would a government entity need to provide a sewage treatment plant? We have enough handouts as it is... People should treat their own sewage.
Why would a government entity need to provide shelters for poor people? We have enough handouts as it is... People should have a good-paying job or die.
Why would a government entity need to provide tax incentives for businesses? We have enough handouts as it is... People who own businesses should pay the same taxes as everybody else.
Why would a government entity need to stop pollution? We have enough handouts as it is... People should be free to dump their garbage wherever they please.
Why would a government entity need to inspect restaurants for cleanliness? We have enough handouts as it is... People should hire their own private health inspection teams to make sure restaurants are clean.
Why would a government entity need to zone cities for various uses? We have enough handouts as it is... People should be able to build an oil derrick in their front yard if they want to.
Why would a government entity need to provide indigent health services? We have enough handouts as it is... People should have health insurance or drop dead.
Why would a government entity need to provide for abused or abandoned children? We have enough handouts as it is... Kids with bad or abusive parents can survive on their own or die.
Why would a government entity need to provide an airport? We have enough handouts as it is... People should provide their own airports.
Why would a government entity need to provide a port? We have enough handouts as it is... People should provide their own seaports.
Etc.
Libertardians are stupid.
When I lived in Garland, Texas, (about an hour from Arlington), I remember watching a new (Hispanic) family move into our neighborhood. My across the street neighbor walked over to me and whispered, "There goes the neighborhood." (Yes, she actually said that exact phrase.)
BTW, she was black.
As for the cost: Arlington hasn't hit the state sales tax cap. A 1/8-cent sales tax would raise more than $5 million per year. The City could simply post a bid notice and contract with a private operator to run the system for $5 million bucks per year. There must be a dozen companies in Arlington alone that could organize and run a public transit system I've described for five million bucks; hell, I could probably do it myself. If no company could run the system for $5M, the system could be pared back to a size that could be operated for under $5M per annum.
(Fun Fact: The City of Arlington is kicking in $325 million in funding for the JerryDome. This money comes from a .5% increase of the city's sales tax, a 2% hotel tax, and a 5% car rental tax. And all this for a stadium that few Arlingtonians will ever be rich enough to enter.)
We will have public transit in Arlington, sooner or later. Traffic, the Jerrydome, and the inevitable rise of gas prices will eventually end the practice of everyday travel by private car in Arlington for all but the rich. When gas is only available at $20 per gallon or is "for government and emergency use only" Arlington will have public transit, or it will cease to function.
I had an elderly neighbor who was black and she was highly prejudiced against Asians, not surprising since she had been an Army nurse during WWII. My father felt the same way about Asians for a couple decades following his sevice in WWII. Only thing is, my neighbor’s grandson married a Korean woman, a very nice person, but his grandma said to me, “you just can’t trust those people”.
Ping
I agree with you, I’m often frustrated because the State is not mentioned in the article heading.
I live in Texas, sad to read this about Arlington. Now if it were Jasper, Texas it wouldn’t be a surprise!
