My computer is infested with this crap and I can't get rid of it. None of the free services can solve the problem, and I might even pay for such a service, except that all of them seem to be just folks willingly to take advantage of you and charge you more money, and possibly infect you more. Has anyone here seen this? How should I and anyone else deal with this?
I have a very good friend that runs a small computer services business. He has had an exceptionally good relationship with AVG an anti virus company. You can check it out at his website www.wallingdatasystems.com and purchase it through him, which I highly reccomend, or just search for AVG. I use it in my business, lots of computers, as well as on my and my kids laptops. It has been very good for many years. Luke, who owns the company has done a vast amount of work for both me personally, my business, and my church ( we have a state of the art Lutheran School). His people can handle large and small projects, but the AVG ANTIVIRUS product is head and shoulders above the ordinary.

If he doesn’t already avoid those sites, telling him to do so ain’t a gonna make no difference.

When you get a cold what do you do? Remove a lung and sand blast it? Gargle with lye?
Formating a drive is not practical for most people.

Yes, I've been forced to restore my computer a few times.
Sometimes it's a pain, cause you gotta save everything you want first, but it get's rid of the problems.

I recommend Webroot’s ‘Window Washer’ and ‘Spy Sweeper’. I back those up with the excellent ‘AdAware’. I also have McAfee which comes as part of my service. I never have any problems. Good luck.
Get Ubuntu Linux free. It’s the easiest Unix-like system to install (pretty much all automatic), and everything simply works for me. Download the latest “Desktop edition,” and put it on a disk for the install.
Keep your Windows on one drive, and put Ubuntu on the other. That way, you can turn off networking in Windows and use the Linux for network-oriented work and play.
I prefer BSD systems for security and stability, BTW, but those require much more manual technical involvement. The Ubuntu Linux distribution is the most stable Linux system that I’ve used, too (probably because it’s Debian-based).

Yeah. High class pron is the best.
McAfee is worse than a virus. Seriously. It will totally infect your system with garbage files that can’t be removed.
How many of those bulletins were actually for the same handful of impractically difficult exploits that are user-initiated?
1) Use a good antivirus tool. I strongly recommend NOD32 by Eset. Works well, doesn’t bog down your computer.
2) If you’re going to use Internet Explorer make sure it has all the current patches installed.
3) A far safer browser is Mozilla FireFox.
4) Don’t install or allow to be installed any tool bar “helper” tools. Only allow things like Adobe Flash and Reader (and similar tools) to be updated/installed.
I’ve been using Windows based computers for many years. I don’t have problems with viruses, spyware and adware getting onto my machines. I never let anything be installed on my computers without knowing exactly what it is. If you don’t know what something is, research it on Google first.

I always thought it worse, it's always now where did I put that disc are that program. Goes on for about an hour!!
