KSFO Confirms: Thank You and Goodbye Melanie Morgan [KSFo 560 - San Francisco]
KSFO 560 AM ^ | 03/03/2008 | KSFO Management

Posted on 03/03/2008 6:03:35 PM PST by Impeach98

Goodbye and thank you, Melanie Morgan

We are sorry to report that Melanie Morgan is no longer with KSFO 560am. KSFO was unable to renew Melanie’s contract because of across-the-board budget cuts mandated by our parent company, Citadel Broadcasting. Other employees have been impacted as well.

Melanie has been a valued member of the KSFO staff since its inception of the “HotTalk” format in 1994. Previously, she worked for KSFO’s sister-station, KGO, as a reporter since 1983. She has reported on the scene from the Marine barracks bombing in Beirut, Lebanon; the Mexico City earthquake; and the Tiananmen Square massacre in China. Morgan’s on-air activism included an effort that removed the MTBE from gasoline in California, launched the historic recall of Gray Davis that led to the election of Arnold Schwarzenegger and most recently, standing up for the Marine recruiting station in Berkeley.

Melanie would like to thank all KSFO listeners for their support over the years and asks everyone to know she will continue to work with Move America Forward, the pro-troop organization she helped co-found in 2004, in supporting our troops and their families around the country.

We here at KSFO wish nothing but the best to Melanie. If you would like to contact Melanie, you can reach her through her website www.melaniemorgan.com

So what was she really fired for? (I was in radio and know the buzzwords.)

Maybe this is the best thing that could happen for her.

May she go on to better and brighter things!

Maybe we will never know the total truth about what happened, but we can make educated guesses. Regardless, Melanie will have no trouble finding a welcoming home in conservative talk radio -— none whatsoever.

You have done well Melanie -— keep the faith and keep up the great work.

We’ll miss you at the 5:00 am on line tune in from here in the wilderness of Southern Utah. Always looked forward to your participation with Officer Vic and Lee Rodgers and their conservative point of view from the most liberal place on earth.

Come and see us sometime. 12 miles east of Zion National Park.

Citadel broadcasting is in an Enron-like freefall. They are firing people all over the place — probably because their next paycheck would bounce.

IIRC, Melanie’s husband, Jack Swanson, is General Manager of KSFO and KGO.

There was a thread on here last night about troubles with Citadel Broadcasting. When I read it then I wondered about the KSFO crew. Also, this isn’t the first time Melanie’s had contract problems. She may be back yet!

What's that all about, I wonder. Grew too fast?

Too bad.

There’s a bit more on her web site.

It looks like they bought Disney’s ABC radio assets, but couldn’t afford the debt load.

According to a story from Friday, they expect to lose $1.29 billion this year.

Somewhat of a shock.

It would be funnier and more correct if the Caldecott Tunnel had only two bores (it's a 3-bore highway tunnel near S.F.) but Officer Vic (one of the on-air team of three) once said that he and Lee Rogers were like the Caldecott Tunnel without Melanie, i.e., two bores.

When Rodgers returned to S.F after a year in Seattle I had not heard of KSFO. It was a mention by Art Bell on his show that I found out that Rodgers was back in S.F. and at a station that I had never heard of.

I was disappointed that Rodgers had a "girl" partner. Why did the great Lee Rodgers need a partner?

Well soon I learned and after all these years I now believe, it just ain't worth the trouble of all the static and weak signal to get KSFO without Melanie.

I'll listen to Laura Ingraham locally, except when she has BO (best of).

Sounds like your typical Investment Bank aquisition. Shortly afterward, the pruning shears come out.

IIRC, Melanie lives in Marin. Methinks that would be Lynn Woolsley’s seat. There’s a piece of work for ya.

Citadel seems to be firing many popular hosts. 33 year WMAL (Wash DC) veteran Chris Core was axed on Friday by the Citadel suits. I wonder how many of the casualties lean left.

Remember when they did this about 5 years ago!

They want to be rid of Melanie!

How about getting rid of that useless slug..Lee Rodgers?
