McAuliffe says Penn should zip it By Klaus Marre Posted: 03/04/08 11:39 AM [ET]
Terry McAuliffe, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clintons (D-N.Y.) presidential campaign chairman, said Tuesday that top pollster Mark Penn should stop talking to the press after remarks from Penn indicated that he is distancing himself from the campaign.
People ought to quit talking to the press and focus on helping Hillary win, McAuliffe said on MSNBC in response to a question about Penns remarks.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Penn said in an e-mail that he had no direct authority in the campaign, and called himself an outside message adviser with no campaign staff reporting to me.
Penn said others in the campaign had the say on budget issues and resource allocation, as well as the political and organizational sides. Some see his statement as his effort to distance himself from a campaign that is on the ropes, even though Penn is seen as one of Clintons main strategists.

FOOD FIGHT!!!
Mr. Penn appears to be distancing himself...all the way to Fort Marcy Park.
*smirk* Fun to watch, I can’t stand either one of them (Penn or McAuliffe) Better melt some more butter for that popcorn.

Popcorn - let’s all have some popcorn.
Agreed...Hillary has this locked up. Obama will be the last to know...pass the popcorn.
The Hill-tanic is sinking. Women and children first!
“Markie? Yeah, Markie...he don’t come ‘round here no more...”
Delegates are coming.
Her new mission is to create JUSTIFICATION for gaining Super Delegate support.
If she takes 3/4 states with popular vote today (and she will), she claims momentum and victory. She claims she won ALL the Big Blue States.
Obama missed his chance. Red Phone and Conservative who are now scared of Obama’s religious background are driving his negatives high. Hillary finally found a way to beat him in Red States.
Catholics are voting for Hillary 2-1 and PA has tons of them. Indiana is another die-hard Red State where Somali Elder picture would do wonders for you. Puerto Rico is hers.
She will cut down the Delegate lead SIGNIFICANTLY and she would show that she has the Momentum, and Polls are ALREADY backing her up Nationally. She has retaken the lead over Obama and she would claim she is better matchup against McCain.
Republicans have already offerred to re-do Florida. That’s another Delegate Goldmine, and Raul Castro’s endorsement of Obama pretty much ensures he doesn’t carry the state.
Kiddie Cursaders, base of Obama’s support have never delievered before and won’t do so today.
Finally, Obama will be under pressure to not take the Sharpton route and will bow out, and ACCEPT VP Nomination.
Yeah, she got that in the bag.
If Hilde keeps on winning the Large States, and narrows the delegate count, we may see the spectacle of a “re-Vote” in FL at least.
This is a grilled cheese and chicken noodle soup moment, I can only imagine the Clintons, with the Nomination within 50 delegates, at the Convention in Denver.
There will be blood on the Convention floor...pass the Dortmunder....
She will carry Ohio, Texas, PA, Indiana and Puerto Rico. In between her momentum may allow her to carry some other states too.
If they re-do FL, she may even re-take the delegate lead.
If she is only 30-35 pledge delegates behind, and she is the big winner this time of the year, just like in any boxing match, you can win first 8 rounds, but if you lose last 4, you lose the fight.
>> Obama will be under pressure to not take the Sharpton route and will bow out
What you outline could come to pass... but not until the convention.
Obama will be ahead (methinks significantly ahead) until convention time — and if he’s ahead, no way will he succumb to pressure to bow out. He’s got plenty of dough, too.
Chin up, FRiend... gory hairpulling catfight Dim convention, HERE WE COME!!!
Love it!!!
I don’t think Obama is fighting type. Sharpton/Jackson would urge him to, but I think he just delivers his “new voters” to her, and most likely peacefully accept the VP.
Michelle Obama is our big hope. She hates Hildabeast and may be able to nag her husband enough to fight for himself.
Good call I think.

Oh wait, wrong Penn.
Good one - we might need that much!
For “us”, it is much better if your scenario happens, knowing just how ruthless the Clintons are, and how Che is trying to pump sunshine up backsides, it really should be one heck of a fight in Denver.
Plus, these ads ain’t cheap, staff ain’t cheap, the longer this drags out, the more resources will be burned up.
Yum yum....popcorn’s ready...
Nope Hilde will win Ohio, she may pull out TX as late polls were breaking toward her.
What such wins will do is put some starch in the Super Delegates spines...
You still think she’d ask him to be VP?

McAuliffe will be out of a job by tomorrow.
Then I suppose he’ll have a “conversion”, like Dick Morris, so he can become a pundit on FOX.
I was hoping this was Penn of Penn & Teller and he would make Terry McAuliffe disappear ... to somewhere else, permanently.
Guam is her new firewall.
Well, if he keeps soldiering on, and doesn’t bow out, and there is a fight at the convention (Oh Please Dear Lord, I don’t ask for much), then for the sake of “healing” the wounds, I think she would have to.
Again, it all depends if he is willing to fight for it.
However, after how she has attacked him for thinness of his record, it would certainly require lots of effort on her part in trying to building him up again.
Then again, with Media on their side, they can make people believe whatever they want.
A lock up? Even if she wins TX, Obama may have more delegates? And a 52-48 split in OH would give her something like 5 more delegates?
If you think she has it locked up, you simply aren’t looking, at the mathematics she needs to secure the nom.
Not gonna happen. She’ll continue to fight tooth and claw for the superdelegates, but after today she is virtually finished.
If Obama’s Kiddie Brigade shows up, then he has a prayer. They never have in the past. You know, not only everyone in South Texas will show up for Hillary, but today, whole bunch of people would be crossing the River, just to make sure.......
I’m looking just fine...she has this nomination in the bag. Obama is being exposed for the empty suit he is with a quesionable past.
In Texas, her late surge may be too late. Half or more of the votes have already been cast in Early Voting which should be heavily Obama.

support our troops and BSA..... Buy boy scout popcorn
popcorn ping
Yes indeed.
Tins are a Three fer for the troops. First there’s something decorative to spruce up the “Hooch” frome home, then there’s the goodies inside from home, and lastly there’s an air-tight container to keep the treasures in when empty (won’t take long as the troops follow the 13th Unofficial Law of Scouting; a Scout (in this case a Troop) is always hungry) to keep precious treasures in and protect from the dust.
Hate to ask a dumb question but what happened to Teller, Penn’s pardner. Did they break up or did he die? I really would like to know. They were good together but I don’t care for Penn now.

So I would have lost the over/under if it stays the same, but Hill didn’t make up much ground. The only way she wins this is by spilling a lot of blood. Popcorn indeed.
Tim Russert was saying over and over yesterday that now DNC (Dean) HAS to do something about FL and MI. That he can’t stay on the sides.
Pubs think in their infinite wisdom that keeping this fight alive is good for them and so they have offcially offerred to re-do FL at Tax Payer’s cost.
MI and FL are two States that Arkansas Mafia excels at stealinig. MI has tons of Union workers and even if they endorse Obama, they vote Klinton as in Ohio.
In the end they would show up at convention about 50 delegate apart with Obama still in the lead.
However, Arkansas Mafia and right combination of fear mongering, bribing and blacmailing Sharpton and Jackson, Dems would put up Klinton/Obama ticket.
If there is one Conservative or Republican that thinks that is a good thing for us, they are either lying or have IQ below 85.
Thus my thesis, we should have buried the Hildabeast when we had the chance.
