Not My Shower: Breaking Biological Barriers
Breakpoint with Chuck Colson ^ | 3/5/2008 | Chuck Colson

Posted on 03/05/2008 10:19:26 AM PST by Mr. Silverback

Mary Ann Andree was drying her hair in the Rio Sport and Health Club in Gaithersburg, Maryland, last month when the door to the women’s locker room suddenly opened. In came a man, wearing a blue ruffled skirt and make-up.

As Andree later told reporters, “I was very upset. There is a lot he could have seen.” Andree is far from alone. A lot of other women in Montgomery County, Maryland, are upset over a new law that demands co-ed locker rooms and bathrooms in all public accommodations.

Montgomery County, adjacent to Washington, D.C., passed the law last November to accommodate “transgendered people”—that is, men who perceive themselves to be women, and women who perceive themselves to be men. The law adds gender identity to the list of protected classes to the Montgomery County Code banning discrimination.

In effect, it means men will have full access to a woman’s restroom and locker room. A woman taking a shower after her aerobics class might look up to find a man turning on the shower next to hers. A little girl using a movie theater restroom will now have to worry that a strange man might walk in.

Michelle Turner, who leads a citizens group opposing the law, says, “Any biological male who is willing to wear a dress and who is feeling transgendered at that particular moment can enter the ladies room or locker room.”

And what is to stop non-transgendered men from entering the ladies’ room? Nothing. A child molester or rapist could put on a dress and go right in. So could pornographists. It is an appalling, shocking law. And get this: There is no exemption for religious schools, book stores, churches, and daycares. As Turner notes, “The act will use the force of law to make these organizations accept transgenders, transvestites, and cross-dressers as employees.”

The American Psychiatric Association classifies gender identity disorder as a mental disorder. Supporters of the Montgomery County law refuse to accept this, and they have decided that you and I are not going to be allowed to accept it, either. Dana Beyer, a “transgendered” person employed by the Montgomery County Council, says that if you believe that XY chromosomes and male genitalia make someone male, you are a bigot.

In effect, transgendered persons are demanding that Montgomery County erase the distinctions between males and females. Make no mistake: This is not about the need for co-ed bathrooms. This law is simply being used to normalize gender identity disorder—much in the same way the gay lobby uses laws to normalize homosexuality.

Montgomery County officials passed this law despite the fact that citizens opposed it by an eight-to-one margin. The good news is that concerned citizens have gathered enough signatures to put the issue on the November ballot.

But Montgomery County is not the only jurisdiction passing laws like these. Check out what your own local leaders are doing to protect your privacy rights. And parents, make sure your kids know the difference between the Christian view of sexuality and that being propagated by those who think they ought to be allowed to choose their gender and their bathroom.

The Freedom to associate precludes the Freedom not to associate. The SCOTUS has already ruled this.

That's why we should amend the Bill of Rights to include it.

Ultimately, that is the point. The perverts who put forth these changes are aiming for a pansexual society in which they have sexual access to our children and our pets.

First, I am not saying their comfort supercedes anyone else's, or even that it is a legitimate area for the law to consider.

Second, it's beyond debate that transgenderism is a mental issue. Go pick up any book on it and it's either written by a psychiatrist or it's someone's tale of how they were treated by a psychiatrist for years. Some group of idiots (a minority even in the transsexual community) saying it's not changes nothing.

Are you saying that a majority of the transsexual “community” believe they have mental issues? I honestly have never heard anyone who identified as a member of that “community” suggest that.

I think we should feel sympathy for these people. But facts are facts. Whatever a person may “feel,” and whatever operations they may have performed upon themselves, they will remain the same sex they were born with.

When my relative revealed his condition to me, he gave me two books on the subject, one an autobiographic account by a psychiatrist who specializes in treating transgendered patients and another that was more technical and general. What struck me in both was that virtually all of these patients report all their bad symptoms go away as soon as they receive hormone therapy. For example, you start giving a male with gender issues a daily dose of estrogen and he stops feeling like a woman trapped in a man's body.

And yet, instead of saying (as you would with other patients who have a brain imbalance that causes them mental difficulties) "Great, we'll keep you on that and you'll be able to function and be happy" the medical response is, "Great, soon we'll be able to schedule you for an extremely invasive, extremely expensive and completely elective series of surgical procedures." My wife says it's a good thing we don't take that approach with people who think they're golden retrievers. She also points out that if you say you're a specific woman (say, Marilyn Monroe) they treat you with drugs and therapy, but if you just say you're a woman, it's off to surgery.

What if a Muslim lady wants to use the locker room? Won’t this violate her privacy too? They aren’t afraid to stand up for their beliefs!

so if i feel like walking into the ladies room i can walk in, use the restroom right next to a little girl, and if i say i’m transgendered, its ok.
but if i take a leak in public, i’ll be put on the sex-offender registry.

that makes sense.

when [girls] start getting raped, their opinions on things like this will change, and you’ll see them marching in the streets.

I'm sorry to disillusion you, but this is Montgomery County, Maryland, the richest county in the state and one of the most liberal surburban counties in the U.S. It is full of lawyers, professors, social science "consultants", extremely well-paid government functionaries and high-techies, yuppie Democrat idealists and old-line Democrat die-hards.

The leftist sexual liberation movement in this country wants to redefine adult-child sex as a good thing, lower the age of consent or eliminate it completely, remove any distinction between opposite-sex rape and same-sex rape, and disallow "heteronormative bigotry."

Even against this backdrop, the people of this extremely liberal county don't want this transgender-normalization incursion into women's locker rooms.

And someone please explain to me how a transgendered woman is going to be treated in a men's locker room?

Actually, my wife and I discussed that aspect, and we concluded that you could get away with it if you wore flannel and no makeup and said you’re a lesbian trapped in a man’s body.
