Well being a conservative I hate change. I know I should get one of those color sets but if black and white is good enough for the latest I love Lucy or Honeymooners episodes then it is good enough for this Internet doohicky. After all when you have color you have the color Red and we all know that as soon as we see reds on the TV the nation is going to go into the pooper.

Are we going to get sound on Free Republic? It seemed like yesterday that Al Jolson was doing the first talkie. Actually it was yesterday for me. I wasn’t going to waste my time going to some fad like sound in movies unless it was proven by the test of time. After 70 years I think it may be time to switch from silent films.

Seriously it is a shame you can’t have an option for the old style for us who hate change. If it was up to me I would still be using Windows 95 and Multimate word processing.

I like the change, but there isn’t any hope. That concerns me.

I believe that the things that need to be done, are the things that haven’t been done, for far too long. In the face of change, I believe in hope. In the face of hope, I believe in change. Let us leave the past behind us, as we go forward, into the future, firmly anchored to what came before. Let us set aside the things that divide us, and come together united indivisible as one people. Together, we can make something out of nothing, yes - we - CAN!

Thank you for all the work you've done, John. I love the changes. It's a lot easier to navigate. The look is clean and sharp. I like the tabs at the top, the links to comments and posts on the right, the new search link on the top, everything. The RSS feed is very classy looking, and easy to read.

Change? Is that a conservative value?

Seriesly, I think I'll like it once I get used to it.

One suggestion, have you considered a subtitle option for some of the creative spirits who like to change the original title and make double threads harder to detect?

Reboot your mac.

And how do I do that?

Same way as your iPod.

Working on an edit button...

Whew. That could be interesting. Maybe a little too interesting if people can get into arguments and then go back and revise their posts to support their arguments and claim, "I didn't say that". My suggestion would be to handle edits the way revised threads are handled, with a link to the original "as is" post.

Nice work on the forum. Tip of the hat to you. Even somebody like me who is old and confused and set in his ways can use the forum just fine.

Prior to rioting and fainting, Obomber fans express themselves about changes.

Simon Simonovic, right, and Nemanja Stamencic, members of a pro-Western student group 'Europe Has No Alternative' wear T-shirts showing Barack Obama, before unveiling a billboard reading 'Kosovo is Serbia' and showing a photo of the Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama, urging him to help Serbia, Saturday, March 1, 2008. The billboard carried the slogans in Serbian and English, reading: 'Change that we can believe in' and 'Barack Obama, be with us.' It also carried a photo of late U.S. President John F. Kennedy, who was one of the best known and most popular American leaders here. Washington and its Western allies have recognized Kosovo's independence, but Serbia's premier Vojislav Kostunica has pledged to fight to have that recognition reversed and has turned to Russia, Serbia's traditional ally, for support. The headlines in the sidebar don’t change color or bold anymore to indicate that you read it earlier

It seems an improvement but ask again in a week.

FR, btw, has always been the most user friendly site of its type I've ever used.

Welll harumph.

I like sans serif!

Actually, IIRC, one can change to whatever one wants in Explorer as well as FireFox.
