Lol! OMGosh! Thanks for clearing up that the FR changes were intentional, John! Lol! For the life of me, I could not figure out *what* settings I had changed! I was getting ready to ask the mac thread folks if I might have done something to my imac, being that I am only a 9 week old to an Apple product. Whew!

But hey...I’m going to start going through all of these posts to see if anyone has laid out what all the changes are. If any FReeper who’s been keeping up with this whole thread can ping me to a post where this has already been spelled out, I’d be very, very appreciative. The kids are home from school today (woo-hoo! Snow in the DFW area!) and they are already back outside and zinging snowballs at each other.

I have a suggestion that I hope will be helpful to rss feed users. Currently the news feed on "Comments" are presented as:

#postNumber: FreeperName on "articleTitle"
I primarily scan news feeds for article titles and secondarily for who's comment it was. So I propose the following:
#postNumber: "upTo32charOfTitle---------------" -by- FreeperName
Or perhaps do without the post number as it doesn't have a lot of meaning outside the context of the particular article:
upTo32charOfTitle--------------- -by- FreeperName
Thank you for all the hard work!

How about a small button that shows a JS tooltip onclick if javascript is enabled and degrades to a flat html page?

I imagine you’d want to do a stripped down, roll your own kind of solution rather than using something like Prototype, which would add too much to the page size, but as long as you don’t go too crazy with the bells and whistles, it shouldn’t take up a lot of space.

A lean, stripped down tooltip script might be good for a bunch of things around here to help explain how things are used.

See the

Home Forum Pings Mail More ... __(Your name here)_____________ [GO]

on the top right hand side of the page. Then hit GO. I don’t think there is any other way to find posters. I’ve been reading the thread and that is the best I have done.

Thanks for pings, SW:)

I’m getting used to it- but I’ve learned how conditioned I’ve become to looking at FR in certain ways, and how much I resist change. I keep thinking I’m missing what’s really going on.

The top of the page(s)...just LOOKS wrong, somehow!

Q:How many people does it take to change a light bulb in Austin?

A: 10. One to change the lightbulb and 9 to tell you how cool the old one used to be.

LOL! That is perfect!

== I hate having to scroll halfway down the page just to see the ‘breaking news’ headlines in the sidebar. That sort of defeats the purpose of having ‘breaking news’ as a sidebar item.

Click on "more", upper right side of window, and then subscriptions.

You can decide which category comes up first and on down the line.

This Link will take you to it for now.

You can exorcize the ghostly aspect by clicking on “more”, top right side of window.

Then click on “subscriptions” and then under “style” choose colors.

Have fun!

I’ll be re-reading the thread as well. Isn’t there some place where all the changes are spelled out?

I want to know where my search box went!

Where did they hide the ‘post a new thread’ link?

At the bottom of each thread (left side), and on the sidebar to the right of the categories under "browse by forum"

What ever happened to the view counter?

I agree, an excellent feature.

I still can’t find a person’s posts. That was the most fun for me, checking on various posters and seeing what they had to say and seeing who the admin moderator told to “knock it off” over the past couple days. I tried something someone had suggested in the upper right but all I’m getting are titles.
