Uh, how deep was this “sandbox”? Yeah, something doesn’t smell right...
Here’s another story about it..
They buried him UPSIDE DOWN (at his request) up to his chest...

He was copying a cartoon..
So completely sad..
You’ve got that right...prayers...and more prayers..
I dunno. Half brother who is twenty years older than this kid, who’s own children do the burying. Odd.
Just plain stupid and sad. RIP.
I’m wondering what were the ages of the children involved. Typical 10 year old’s who aren’t brain damaged, understand the implications of burying someone like this.
A relative identified the boy as Cody Porter, a fifth-grader at the Everett school.
Porter was playing with five friends, all between the ages of 8 and 10, in a backyard sandbox on Saturday morning.
“They watch a cartoon where they were like sand masters or something and they can manipulate sand or something like that. They came up with the idea that if he were to do this then he would be able to be one of them,” he said.
******
Cody and his friends were thought to be inspired by a cartoon, “Narutu,” where characters use sand as a tool and weapon. Whether inspired by a cartoon or a 10-year-old’s imagination, Cody was buried head-first to roughly his torso in a backyard sandbox.
EVERETT, Wash. - An Everett-area family is in mourning a 10-year-old boy who died after being buried alive by his playmates.
In a statement, the family of Codey Porter says he died peacefully at 3:35 p.m. on Monday with his family by his side.
The Porter family decided to donate their son’s organs. They are still formalizing plans to lay him to rest.
A memorial fund for Codey Porter has been set up through Gold Creek Community Church. The best way to donate is to log on to their Web site at www.goldcreek.org.
Hmm. I’ve seen Naruto, and there are definitely characters known as sand ninja that control sand. However, I have no idea how burying your own head in sand could have anything to do with it. That’s something this kid must have come up with on his own, and NOT taken from any scene in Naruto... Assuming the story being reported is even true, anyway. The whole Naruto angle might just be a red herring.
I lift them up in prayer as well. This young man probably thought he could pull himself out of the sand and be okay - I know boys frequently overestimate their own strength at that age. Children are children, and they will do some very dangerous things; so many young lives are lost not because they were bad, or stupid, but simply because a careless momentary thought went terribly wrong...
God comfort his family, and help them with their loss.
Prayers for Cody & his family. Pandora
This is so sad, and was so preventable. My prayers are with Cody’s family and friends, who will surely miss this young man.
Um, a 30 year old thought it would be a good idea to bury someone HEAD FIRST?
No, it was the 30 year old's 8-10 year old children.
