NYP: SHE'LL NEVER RELENT--OBAMA MUST SHOW REAL GUTS
New York Post ^ | March 11, 2008 | Rich Lowry

Posted on 03/11/2008 8:00:20 AM PDT by OESY

She's going to keep coming. The Obama campaign can tout "the math." Pundits can insist she leave the race. Former liberal supporters can complain about her smash-mouth tactics. But Hillary Clinton is not going to relent.

The New Yorker compares her this week to a Hollywood cyborg or zombie. To make a current movie analogy, she's the Anton Chigurh of Democratic politics.

As the creepy villain of the Oscar-winning "No Country for Old Men," the murderous Chigurh is an unstoppable force. If "No Country" is a movie about the inexorability of evil, the Democratic race could be about the inexorability of Hillary Clinton.

She's not electrifying on the stump, her campaign is dysfunctional, and- truth be told- she's not particularly experienced.

What Clinton has is a shameless will to power and a near lock on an old-school Democratic coalition built on working-class whites. That's enough for her to try to pry the nomination from Obama's hands one finger at a time.

When the Obama campaign and its supporters in the press say "the math" rules out Clinton, they mean that she will never catch Barack Obama in pledged delegates won through primaries and caucuses.

He probably will continue to lead her by about 100 pledged delegates out of roughly 3,200 total. But nothing says that the leader in pledged delegates wins the nomination....

Obama is trying to knock down the notion, but has yet to burn his ships behind him by ruling out running as VP in any circumstance. Unless he does, doubts will remain about whether he has the stomach for what Hillary will drag him through....

About this there can be no doubt: When Clinton said at the beginning of her campaign that she's "in it to win it," she meant it.

Chigurh was indeed chilling in that movie, with his little air bottle at his side (hint: it wasn't about his breathing).

Not a cyborg or a zombie. She’s a vampire. Exists by sucking the lifeblood out of the living, and giving nothing in return. And like Dracula in the House of Hammer horror series, she can die at the end of every movie [primary/ caucus], then rise back up in the next one. And until they drive a stake through her, stuff her mouth with garlic, decapitate the corpse, and bury her at a crossroads, she’ll keep on coming.

I hope she gets the dem nom, because she will be easier to beat in Nov.
B O is a real danger. Some of the info out there about him is downright scary, and Congressman Steve King said it right.
Great info on a blog called “An American Expat in Southeast Asia”, web addres: http://laotze.blogspot.com/

But Hillary Clinton is not going to relent.

Just speaking objectively here for a moment--do you want a president that would 'relent'?

You and I feel the same way about Hillary being easier to beat than BO. That guy is scary and reminds me of what it says in the Bible about the anti-Christ.

Hillary is not going to relent on her mission to turn the U.S. into a socialist state and to import hundreds of millions of illegals.

I pray that she gets the nod also. I don’t think there is any other way the FRs on this forum who are anti McCain will otherwise support and vote for him. I can’t believe that even Ann Coulter will vote for her.

Interesting, in that Hillary Clinton can probably afford to be seen as “tough” and “a fighter” - it might help opeople concerned that a woman can’t be tough enough, and she does NOT have a sterling repitation as an idealist and a force for positive rhetoric to defend.

Obama has more to lose if he goes negative. He needs to attack her, but not get into the mud with her. Surrogates would be the way to go in many instances.

Which one of these two do I want to win the nomination? NEITHER! LOL (I have issues with OUR nominee, too.) I’m just offering a few thoughts based on what I see..

Answering objectively, I would want a president who played by the rules, who did't try all sorts of shameless dirty tricks, who indeed had character and integrity. In contrast, however, I would not want this Democratic presidential candidate to relent, but to try whatever means available to win her party's nomination, even if it meant seriously and irreparably splitting her party. For many observers, it would confirm in their minds that the Clintons are little more than grifters who act only in their own self-interest--people who would invariably avoid doing what was right for the country. Past examples include dishonest attacks on businesses and free trade in order to capture the populist vote. Her relentless attacks on Obama, which she usually ascribes to the Republican playbook to avoid any personal culpability, are more of the same.

Depends. War on Terror? No. Ramming rampant socialism down our throats and out the back end? Absolutely.

Obama missed a real opportunity: If she's so qualified to be President, why did she float the idea of a vice-president she considers to be unqualified?

I could be a consultant! (It isn't worth putting up with idiots like these.)

If he’s so scary, how did he get knocked off track so easily ? In our “wisdom” we helped revive she who will not die by piling on he who is easily distracted.

It would have been much better for us if she was finished off in Texas.

Obama's problem is that he is a gentleman campaigning against a woman who is only experienced in one thing, and that is the politics of personal destruction, demeanization, and cheapshot, smashmouth mud slinging.

She also knows from her mentor, Saul Alinksy, that rules must be exploited or ignored when it comes to gaining authority and power without the support of the majority.

Hence, total disregard for the DNC rules regarding primaries in Michigan and Florida, and she will do anything to get those delegates seated in her favor.

She wants to see Obama dragged down to her level of indecency, and he would do very well to ignore her sniping but hit direct at her inability to articulate a plan for America's future.
