Sen. Craig's Lawyers Appeal in Sex Case

Saint Paul, Minn. (AP) -- Attorneys for U.S. Senator Larry Craig are asking the Minnesota Court of Appeals to correct a "manifest injustice" by allowing the Idaho Republican to withdraw his guilty plea stemming from an airport restroom sex sting.

In court papers filed Tuesday, the lawyers asked the appellate judges to reverse the trial court's decision to let stand Craig's guilty plea to a disorderly conduct charge. They also asked the court to vacate his plea.

Craig was arrested in June in a restroom stall at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport during a broad sweep targeting men soliciting sex. An undercover officer said Craig tapped his feet and swiped his hand under a stall divider in a way that signaled he wanted sex.

After news of his arrest and plea became public in August, Craig denied wrongdoing. He insisted his actions were misconstrued and said he wasn't gay. He said he pleaded guilty and paid a fine hoping to resolve the matter quietly.

He later tried to withdraw his guilty plea, but a Hennepin County judge refused.

Exactly.

Craig is no conservative. No conservative would support open borders and perks for illegals. He votes conservative just enough to get elected and where his vote does not count.

Craig and McClain were among the ten Republicans who voted against the Cronyn amendment - they opposed barring gang members and terrorists from this country. That is insane.

I have always wondered how a man who has his pants down around his knees or ankles as he sits on the throne can have a “wide stance”. Unless the man’s waistband is 150 inches, it’s just not possible, in my mind.

/Just wondering

“I think Craig should get his day in court.

If guilty - OUT!!!”

He pled guilty, so as far as I’m concerned the verdict is in.

I feel bad for those people of Idaho who put their trust in Sen. Craig. He obviously has no integrity. He pleads guilty and then the renegs. Next to Spitzer he is small potatoes (no pun intended). They are both sleaze bags.

I’d like him to be humiliated in court and remove all doubt.

Probably just a “stalling” tactic. Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

From the first paragraph of this story:

“by allowing the Idaho Republican”

The MSM usually point out that Craig is a REPUBLICAN in their stories about his scandal.

Here are a couple of excerpts from:
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/brent-baker/2008/03/10/straight-arrow-governor-eliot-ness-spitzer-ny

“Last August when news of Larry Craig’s arrest broke, both ABC and NBC stressed his GOP affiliation.”

“Incredibly, in lead stories Monday night about New York Governor Eliot Spitzer being linked to a prostitution ring, neither ABC’s World News nor the NBC Nightly News verbally identified Spitzer’s political party.”

You'll get no argument from me.

Has nothing to do with “diversion,” etc. He’s just another sleazeball pervert, guilty and should have resigned last summer or whenever his shenanigans were revealed. We don’t need him in the GOP.
