As Gov. Spitzer held the state hostage to negotiate a sweet plea deal Tuesday night, probers looked to see if he used tax dollars for trysts with high-priced hookers totaling up to $80,000.
A source familiar with the probe said IRS and FBI investigators found at least nine instances going back 18 months in which Spitzer made multiple cash transfers linked to Emperors Club VIP, a high-priced prostitution ring.
Although the cash used to pay for a $4,300 prostitute named "Kristen" apparently came from Spitzer's account, he used taxpayer dollars to fly to and from his illicit rendezvous.
Investigators are looking to see whether he used state money for the hotel rooms.

Personally, I prefer "SPRITZER." It's meaning has somewhat of a double entendre which under the circumstances, seems appropriate:

Prosecutors should NEVER wield removal from office as a punishment. That's the voters' job - or, in between elections, the NYS legislature's job.
If Spitzer is guilty of a crime, then indict him, convict him, and jail him.
Who serves in elected office is not the business of the Federal Executive branch.

As usual, democrats get treated differently than Republicans. He is being given an easy ride on this.

Do you really think the prosecutors care if he resigns? They are out to nail him, as well they should. Spitzer is the one trying to use his public office as a bargaining chip. As more corruption come to light each day, I hope the feds put him away for a LONG time. He used MY tax dollars to pay for his airfare to see a high priced hooker. So throw the book at him. If he doesn't resign, impeach him and remove him from office.
Now we know why he is so pro abortion.

Soon in the MSM to replace Spitzer stories: "A Republican left a 19.5% tip instead of a 20% tip for the waitress. This is the worst tragedy to the American public ever. It's way, way worse than a liberal Democrat governor using tax money to have trysts with a prostitute. Way worse!"
The word is that he didn’t want to wear a condom while engaging in a certain type of unsanitary act with these women.
