Dr. Laura: Women Share the Blame for Cheating Men. (See, it's mostly her fault).
MSNBC ^ | 3-11-08 | Mike Celezic

Dr. Laura Schlessinger has never been one to shrink from controversy, and she leaped headlong into one on Monday when she said that if a husband cheats, his wife may share some of the blame.

“When the wife does not focus in on the needs and the feelings, sexually, personally, to make him feel like a man, to make him feel like a success, to make him feel like her hero, he’s very susceptible to the charm of some other woman making him feel what he needs,” the popular psychologist and radio personality said.

More commonly known as just “Dr. Laura,” Schlessinger made the remarks while participating in one of several panel discussions on TODAY dealing with the breaking news that New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer had been connected to a high-priced prostitution ring.

I say we take off and nuke the place. It’s the only way to be sure.

Your scenario shouldn’t apply (for non-loser men who will cheat anyway), because the problem in “withholding” isn’t necessarily the lack of sex itself but rather the rejection.

I know men who haven’t gotten any in 2+ years. Chances are, they COULD have had it at least once or twice, but they stop asking.

There’s nothing quite like the shame of rejection.

Good luck on your quest...you’re trying to reason people out of mindsets they didn’t reason themselves into.

Don’t tempt me. You don’t know how glad I am right now that I never got that concealed handgun license.

I’m as oversexed as the next person, but I can’t fathom how anyone can ignore the risk of potential health issues.

Some women just don’t care about looks at all. I suffer and starve myself and exercise but I do it for me. I don’t believe my husband would cheat on me if I gained 50 pounds. I work with women who roll out of bed and come to the office. They put some lipstick on when they head to the bar at night but they feel no dress or makeup is needed at work. Of course it was not like this when I lived in Yonkers. I think it’s the area also? Who knows...

MEN ARE JUST DOGS.

So women would be?.... Just who are all of these dogs having extramarital sex with?

I once had an Italian man brag to me that all Italian men have a wife AND a girlfriend. I asked him if that were true for the women as well. He was offended at the very notion and insisted that it wasn't. I asked him if Italian babies were 50% male and 50% female, to which he replied they were. I then asked him to explain the math. He was perturbed to say the least.

The poor woman is a glutton for punishment and the man is a pig. She should evaluate what if anything she has contributed to his need to stray, however. Is she 100lbs overweight and missing teeth? Does she drink vodka all day and stagger around? Does she pick at him incessantly about job, money, appearance, conduct, his mother, his dog?

That last one is the one that led me to can my ex.

I think Dr. Laura is wrong. It is a character issue and some men fail.

Affairs are rarely about sex

When a man gets married, he is the center of his wife’s attention. When the kids come along, he takes a back seat. His mistress does not make him sit in the back.

It happens with women as well. Soon his job becomes his focus and she takes a back seat. She discovers she is sitting on something that will get her all the attention she needs.

I'm sorry, the decision to commit adultery is that person's alone. The idea that if you are not the perfect spouse that means that the other spouse is entitled or less wrong for having sex with prostitutes is ridiculous. How many married people did everything 100% right all of the time? How many perfect people are there? When you take your vows, it is for better or worse. As a Christian, I believe that vows made between spouses are also made to God- what did He do to drive a spouse to adultery?

Fidelity takes many forms and carries much responsibility. A spouse that decides to be celibate is not being faithful either.

The issue is not whether a bad spouse lessons the guilt of the person committing adultery (they don't), its whether they bare additional blame themselves. And they most certainly can.

To provoke bad behavior is also a sin.

Your point I believe is that we should not assume someone was provoked in order to excuse their behavior. I agree. But if you want to decrease that type of bad behavior in the future, it sure helps to recognize provocation.

Do women ever fail in the character department? She appears to be describing situations where both men and women fail. Why only point out that men fail when it comes to character? Too much Oprah brainwashing?

Exactly,
Any person who looses weight or does anything (take up dance, etc) to ‘keep there spouse’ is doomed.

You have to do it for yourself first.
