I had heard someone trying to defend this by saying the picture was taken at the last note and he had just taken his hand down. It’s apparent from watching the video that’s not true.

Your math is slightly off. He would have been 18 in 1979, as he is one year younger than I am. All males born after December 31, 1959 are required by law to register with Selective Service. It is a felony, IIRC, to fail to do so.

My point is this: After serving five years (two of which were overseas) in the Army, I still had to register with Selective Service! This man wants to lead our country and he can’t even be bothered to mail a postcard or put his hand over his heart? WHAT GIVES?!
