I know that the still shot has made the rounds, but I don't think the video (which shows even more people on stage with their hands over their hearts) has been seen much.

I have a question about Senator Barack Hussein Obama: Mr. Obama was born in 1961, and was therefore required to register for Selective Service (”the Draft”) under the law. Does anyone know if he registered? Bet the media won’t dig too deep into that one like they did President Bush’s time in the Texas Air National Guard!

As with John Kerry, Hussein NObomba is unpatriotic, therefore unfit for command.

I may be wrong, but I don't think you can get in college without having registered.

STUDENT FINANCIAL AID
Men, born after December 31, 1959, who aren’t registered with Selective Service won’t qualify for Federal student loans or grant programs. This includes Pell Grants, College Work Study, Guaranteed Student/Plus Loans, and National Direct Student Loans.

CITIZENSHIP
The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) makes registration with Selective Service a condition for U.S. citizenship if the man first arrived in the U.S. before his 26th birthday.

FEDERAL JOB TRAINING
The Workforce Investment Act (formerly called the Job Training Partnership Act - JTPA) offers programs that can train young men for jobs in auto mechanics and other skills. This program is only open to those men who register with Selective Service. Only men born after December 31, 1959, are required to show proof of registration.

FEDERAL JOBS
A man must be registered to be eligible for jobs in the Executive Branch of the Federal government and the U.S. Postal Service. Proof of registration is required only for men born after December 31, 1959.

Some states have added additional penalties for those who fail to register. See State Legislation.

Selective Service wants young men to register. It does not want them to be prosecuted or denied benefits. If a draft is ever needed, it must be as fair as possible, and that fairness depends on having as many eligible men as possible registered. In the event of a draft, for every man who fails to register, another man would be required to take his place in service to his country.

C'mon, man. You need to have some tolerance for a diversity of singing styles. For far too long, singing at public events has been dominated my the mellifluous -- it's time to give the screech, banshee howl, and cackle their deserved place in our diverse audio-Gaia.

Here’s Obama’s explanation... We sent him an email and asked why he didn’t have his hand over his heart.

Dear Friend,
Thank you for inquiring about the false accusation that I have refused to sing the National Anthem or say the Pledge of Allegiance. I knew when I decided to run for President that I would not be immune from the “anything goes” form of attack politics that has been so prominent in our elections in recent years. And this outrageous charge is just another example of the kind of mean spirited, “shock” politics I will move beyond as President.

There is a photo of me taken during the singing of our National Anthem with a false caption stating that it was taken during the Pledge, and that I refused to put my hand over my heart. I am honored to lead a life of public service, and it is inconceivable that I would ever refuse to say the Pledge or sing the National Anthem. My grandfather served in World War II and helped raise me. He was a great patriot, and he taught me that you put your hand over your heart during the Pledge, and you sing during the Anthem. That’s what I did that day, as I have done countless times before.

In fact, as a U.S. senator, I am sometimes called upon to preside over the opening of the Senate in the morning, at which time I am proud to lead my colleagues in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, with my right hand over my heart. Anybody who doesn’t believe in the Pledge shouldn’t be running for President. To learn the facts and see video of me reciting the Pledge in the Senate, please click here: http://www.barackobama.com/factcheck/2007/11/12/obama_is_a_patriot.php
Every time I have been elected or reelected to the Illinois Senate and the United States Senate, I have proudly raised my right hand, placed my left hand on the Bible and sworn to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” And I will be proud to take the Presidential Oath of office on January 20, 2009. Thank you again for contacting me.

Please share this message with anyone you know who has been misled by this baseless and particularly hurtful political attack.
Sincerely, Barack Obama

Should be "singing at public events has been dominated by the mellifluous."

Hillary looks like she is preparing to do hand shadows. Richardson is practicing the Fred Sanford heart attach clutch.

Obama is really bad, really bad. By contrast even HRC becomes family. Sure she may be a sleazy, evil, dangerous, witch but she is our sleazy, evil, dangerous, witch. Obama isn't one of us. Something is up.

Thank you for posting the video. I had heard someone trying to defend this by saying the picture was taken at the last note and he had just taken his hand down. It's apparent from watching the video that's not true.

I don't think its a simple case of him not being patriotic. In such a case I would expect someone to play along and put their hand over their heart out of social pressure. Not doing so when its expected takes some kind of conviction.

He must be making some kind of statement. Although I don't know what. It seems obvious it should be pursued, although I'm not holding my breath waiting for the MSM to do so.

No, the video hasnt made the rounds...

that’s the first time I have seen it..

i didnt know one existed...

Pity it wasnt longer...

it seems to be the last bit of the song...

still it shows that Obama didnt have his hand on his heart for the last half of the song and presumeably for the first half either...

Bang goes the reasonable excuse that he was just slow in doing so...
