The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton essentially even in the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination. Its Obama 46% Clinton 45% (see recent daily results). This reflects an unusually sharp change from yesterdays results when Obama led by eight points and reached the 50% level of support for the first time. Daily tracking results are collected via nightly telephone surveys and reported on a four-day rolling average basis. Last nights results were very favorable for Clinton and it remains to be seen whether this marks a lasting change in the race or is merely statistical noise. Single night results are based upon very small samples and are more volatile than the overall tracking poll.
Looking to November, John McCain now holds a slight lead over both Democrats in the General Election. Its McCain 47% Obama 42% and McCain 46% Clinton 42% (see recent daily results). It appears that Clintons challenges to Obama may be helping McCain at least in the short-term. McCains polling numbers against Obama began improving during the run-up to the hard-fought Democratic Primaries in Ohio and Texas. Obama has a three-percentage point edge over McCain among unaffiliated voters but is currently supported by just 65% of Democrats. By way of comparison, McCain earns the vote from 80% of Republicans..........Nationally, McCain is viewed favorably by 55% and unfavorably by 41%. Obama is now viewed favorably by 50% of likely voters nationwide, unfavorably by 49%. Clinton earns positive reviews from 47% of Likely Voters nationwide and negative assessments from 51%

Despite the firestorm Obama is in right now, I still contend Obama is the stronger general election candidate. Obama has stronger appeal to Independent voters than Hillary.
This, in spite of the fact that the Hillary!/Obama Show has been on the news non-stop for weeks and McCain has been in waiting backstage.
The more that America knows about Obama and Hillary!, the less that America likes about either one of them.
So Hillary was the Democrat shoo in, and then Obama was, and now neither is.
Obama has yet to be defined as anything but a feel-good centrist. In reality he is a partisan hyperliberal and we have the ammo to back that up once he secures the nomination. The center will defect from him.
So how much of the Pastor Wright blowback is reflected in these results?
I think this stuff coming out about Obama’s racist pastor worries people. He’s just disgusting. And Obama is a liar when he says he never heard those comments.
Obama has dropped at least 2-3 points since yesterdays average. In other words, it looks like he may be tanking. A couple more days of polling ought to tell us.
When Obama decided against wearing an American flag pin, we may all have been a bit too quick to accept his rationale, too quick to find that issue unimportant. Now, that American flag pin has gotten a lot bigger for a lot of us, especially in light of what may have been and may still be Obamas deeper, and, perhaps, secret, less than patriotic beliefs about America.
Wright says that blacks cant be expected to sing God Bless America because of racism. Obama doesnt salute the flag during the National Anthem. That sure strikes me as an amazing coincidence since Obama swears he never heard Wright say anything against America.
So, let’s see...
People are discovering who Obama is... NOW?!!?!?!?!
The facts about Obama have been there from the start. He’s the most liberal senator in congress. The record has been there. His association with reverend Wright has been known for a long time. He refused to honor the flag during the singing of the “Star Spangled Banner” at a sports event. His political agenda has been talked about for a long time. There are numerous other “negative” things that have been known about Obama for a long time.
And the American people are just now waking up to the facts? I don’t believe it. It’s more like so many in the media and in political circles have been covering for him and hoping that people wouldn’t notice, or that they wouldn’t care. If towards the beginning of the primary campaigns Obama had been receiving the same kind of scrutiny that he is now, he wouldn’t be in the lead now and he probably would’ve been long gone from contention.
His pastor certainly is. As for Obama himself, I am not sure exactly where he is coming from. His words are empty platitudes, which tell me nothing.

Barack Obama and Pastor Wright: Far More Than Guilt by Association
Fox News is the only new channel covering the Rev. Wright in detail. ABC News glossed over it. CNN and MSNBC are spinning for Obama. Ditto for the local Chicago media.
