Presidential candidate Barack Obama preaches on the campaign trail that America needs a new consensus based on faith and bipartisanship, yet he continues to attend a controversial Chicago church whose pastor routinely refers to "white arrogance" and "the United States of White America."

In fact, Obama was in attendance at the church when these statements were made on July 22. .....

"We can be assured that, during the course of O’s 20 year membership, these tenets were preached often."

But of course.

Obama's Church: Cauldron of Division (Obama was present at Wright's July 22, 2007 sermon)

Just What Did Obama Know About Wright's Past Sermons? (Plenty)

“Barack Obama either agreed with what was preached from the Trinity pulpit, or he tuned it out and stayed around pretending to for political reasons. To say he stayed for 20 years but doesn't agree with Wright's preaching is incredible denial. It'd be like a man buying White Sox season tickets for 20 years, attending the games, and saying he's not a fan.”

Obama’s supporters want us to ignore this story… just push it under the rug. While they’ll align Republicans with any obscure pastor who does or says something controversial, they’re trying to convince us that Obama’s 20-year long close relationship with Wright, including his effective endorsement of him, his church and rhetoric with a $22,500 donation in 2006 is irrelevant.

“When Obama decided against wearing an American flag pin, we may all have been a bit too quick to accept his rationale, too quick to find that issue unimportant. Now, that American flag pin has gotten a lot bigger for a lot of us, especially in light of what may have been and may still be Obama’s deeper, and, perhaps, secret, less than patriotic beliefs about America.”

“Wright says that blacks can’t be expected to sing God Bless America because of racism. Obama doesn’t salute the flag during the National Anthem. That sure strikes me as an amazing coincidence since Obama swears he never heard Wright say anything against America.”

Why does Obama need to EXPLAIN himself? I'd rather he kept his big mouth shut, covered his face with his ears, and just went away. How much explaining was Mr Lott allowed to do? What good did it do? Look at the political fallout from Mr. Gingrich's MOTHER telling Connie Chung Hillary was a b!tch. Where was that saving grace explanation? Why even humor Obama and hear his explanation? Do we OWE it to him? I think even Jesus would say “That's mighty white of you.”

Its not his fault anyhow; he's a victim of ________. You fill in the blank.

Even in the event Osama wasn't at THIS particular service there is no way he could be a 20 year companion to Wright and still NOT know or not follow the rhetoric (and continue going). Its not like its forced on him like ‘life-partnership’ class is on Kindergartners. And that is the important issue. If I burn a cross in a black family's lawn, do they care what my explanation is? Even if it was a Halloween prank...its a hate crime and that = longer prison time.

As for Hitlery, her supporters are probably behind the sudden ‘surge’ in coverage. Too bad they couldn't support any ‘surges’ to support the war. The Cinton closet has many scandals and dead lawyers that need to resurface as well. None of Kennedy's scandals that ever “floated” [they sure didn't swim] to the surface ever prevented him from office.

The only liberal scandals that ever make the ‘news’ and actually prevent liberals from office, are scandals that serve some other liberal purpose... no explanations needed, but if you insist ‘Press 1 for English’ para Espanol primo numero dous.”

WE [conservatives] bring everything on ourselves. Too many in this country are apologists that think it can all be explained away and apologized for. We didn't think a conservative could win, so we put forth our most liberal candidate John McCain; he's good at explaining.

You want to talk about true conservatism? Look at Reagan. People thought he was crazy when he said we could ‘WIN’ the Cold War. Where is our ‘win’ attitude? We apologized for it a long time ago. So we are stuck with socialists, racists, liars, and back stabbers - that open the borders to criminals and terrorists, raise taxes, provide handouts for everything. But, they can explain. I don't want to vote for an explanation... our rights and freedoms are unalienable, as is our security. I want to vote for a LEADER of the FREE WORLD. We aren't trying to win anything we are trying to appease by selecting the ‘electable’ candidate. And to top it off we fall lock step with the liberal machine. Either way the MSM is going to push out Hillary or Obama or worst case give them a joint ticket. We need stop underestimating our opponents and realize we have to deal with BOTH of them. And come the General everything coming out now will be “old news;” a GOP hatchet job, and vast White Right Wing Conspiracy. Anything coming out later, and closer to the General, will make us racists, feminists or both. So we have John McCain to help us prove appeasement works; just ask Austria, Hungary, Poland, France, and Italy. Every election conservatives throw in the towel and start talking about the ‘next’ election. How many thought the Honorable Mr Bush couldn't possibly win in ‘04?

We talk about unpatriotic? When did it become patriotic to concede a fight? When did we lose sight of ‘may the better man win?’ Now its may the ‘most “electable” man win.’ We complain our voice isn't heard. Well, we send mixed signals; we don't speak clearly. Just look at who we back. We couldn't support Huckabee because we didn't think he could win. So now we have McCain, which we don't know if he can win. So we failed to back a relatively conservative candidate; got stuck with a liberal candidate... I think they're hearing us loud and clear; just like the teacher from the Peanut Gallery. But at least we can still complain and have an interesting explanation. Or maybe I'm just crazy.

If Obama wasn't there, they should have spoken up right away -- immediately after the article was published.

With all due respect, Newsmax isn't a well-known news source, like the Washington Post is, for example. I don't know if I would bother debunking Newsmax any more than I would some blog post from a guy who lives in his mom's basement.

Jveritas, meet the author.

I'll let the two of you discuss...

Did anyone else notice the lack of eloquence by Obama when answering questions about his Pastor? I found it quite interesting that he hemmed and hawed and ummed a stumbled quite a bit w/o a prepared syntax predicated speach from which to speak.

Do you have proof of this? You're certainly very sure of yourself and your standing here, jveritas. I noticed you didn't ping the author, again, while accusing him of dishonesty. Terrible form.

“Made stuff up”? I’m not taking your bait and you should be ashamed of yourself.

The early serice starts at 7:15. It lasts about an hour. We have already established that Obama didn’t arrive at the La Raza conference until 1:50. (12:50 Chicago time.)

Newsmax has received an email from the Obama campaign that confirms he flew out of Chicago at 8:50. That leaves four hours for a three-hour flight, plus a drive from the Miami airport to La Raza. (Dick Daley is nice and accommodating for prominent Democratic politicians like Obama.)

It’s easy to get from Trinity United to Midway Airport in 25 minutes with a police escort, and cops blocking cross traffic at every stop light to wave you through. Same thing is true at the other end, in Miami.

I’m pretty sure that the Trinity United website has the morning and evening sermons switched around.

You’re calling me a liar. But tell me, have you made up your mind to support Obama come hell or high water, because you hate Hillary and you think McCain isn’t comservative enough?

The fact that the Obama campaign didn’t immediately ask for a retraction of the August story is a little unusual, don’t ou agree?

What is your relation to the poster who claims to be the author of the story on Newsmax, (see: HERE), if I may ask?

Another accusation with no ping to the accused. Are you this gutless, or is common courtesy just a foreign concept to you?

I stand by my comments. I want Obama as the democrat nominee because McCain will bedestroy him in the general elections. I want McCain to win, he will have much tougher time against Hillary Clinton if she is the democrat nominee.

Philo1962 e-mailed me about this. I can confirm a lot of what he’s been saying. There’s a small group of Chicago chapter Freepers who have been monitoring Trinity United broadcasts ever since Obama was nominated. Philo1962 has been doing it a lot longer, going back to 2004.

Rather thant nit-picking each other’s analysis here, some of which are more accurate than others, we need to focus on Obama.

This is an excellent opportunity to educate people to how Obama evades the question and does not answer it. Whether the question is in the Tribune or SunTimes editorial room, or on MSNBC or CNN, or anywhere, Obama changes the subject and answers a question that was not asked.

This needs to be compared directly to one of the first liars who also committed genocide of 25% of the earth’s population. When God asked Cain “Where is your brother”, the genocidal Cain replied “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

From the phrase of a lying murderer the left concludes that “I am my brother’s keeper.”

Correction: We’ve been monitoring the broadcasts ever since he announced he’s running for president (13 months ago).

That’s your reason for smearing FReepers as liars with no basis? To protect a candidate you believe John McCain can beat more easily? And this seems like reasonable behavior to you?

The more I see of McCain’s supporters, the stronger my resolve to not vote for him becomes. The man’s best friends are his worst enemies.

And I can tell you, for a fact, that Philo1962 is not making stuff up. I was watching the broadcast that morning, 7:15 to 8:15, and it was Wright not the other minister. Now you’re calling two Freepers liars and we’ve both been here since before Bush was sworn in. How about you?
